+wood_jl #3 Posted January 16, 2010 The telnet BBSs are super-cool, but with an actual modem - where can you call with them - esp. 1200 baud - today? Very curious!
Kernal #4 Posted January 17, 2010 im actually just going to use it as a backup to my broadband internet.. i have an old bbs that accepts 1200baud incoming calls. Game Over BBS returns soon!
Kernal #5 Posted January 17, 2010 my other question is does this disk have the ST drivers on it too or is it not needed for the ST (the sx212 handler for st) works great on the 8bit so far =)

Urchlay #7 Posted January 17, 2010 When you connect an SX212 to an ST, you use the standard RS232 port... Far as I can remember, the ST supports the RS232 port with no additional driver. As far as supporting the modem itself, that's up to the software that wants to use it. The SX212 is a Hayes-compatible modem, using the AT command set, so most software should work with it using the default init and dialing strings (ATZ, ATDT). doctor_x #8 Posted January 18, 2010 sx212 is what i used when i thought a 1040stf was going to replace my 8bit so i got into it.. the sx worked with every bbs soft i tried to run, and every term i tried to run (freeze dried terminal was the best thing i ever found for any Atari - someone please correct me if im wrong..), so i dont think you will have any issues using it as a "hayes compatible" modem... fwiw.
