JacobZu7zu7 #1 Posted January 22, 2010 I played this one again recently, and I think it's pretty cool, kinda badass. Very good graphics, sound and playable. Maybe having the (temporary) force field makes it kinda easy, but still gotta' play carefully and have to shoot 4 enemies to get it. What do you guys think? I only seen two reviews at Atari Age. They aren't saying anything too good about the Flash. toymailman #2 Posted January 22, 2010 We played it in the HSC awhile back and I enjoyed it alot. It is easy at the start but the difficulty ramps up nicely and becomes more and more challenging until you can't take it anymore.
8bitgamer #3 Posted January 22, 2010 Cool game based on a great movie.
Emehr #4 Posted January 22, 2010 Yep, excellent movie. If I could make a movie that's half as much fun as that film I would be happy. I don't have the Flash Gordon game but I do have Vanguard, which "borrowed" music from the film.
moycon #5 Posted January 22, 2010 I liked it back in the day. Been a long while since I've played it.
StanJr #6 Posted January 22, 2010 I enjoy Flash Gordon pretty well. It is a good space shooter/dot-maze game with lots of challenge once the difficulty ramps.
Vic George 2K3 #7 Posted January 23, 2010 (edited) Actually, the 2600 Flash Gordon game isn't based on the 1980 Universal Pictures movie; it's simply Sirius Software's Spider City with a movie license slapped on it. Then again, it could be basing itself on the original comic strips and movie serials, using modern imagery to connect people to believing it's based on Flash Gordon. Well, here's my take on redoing the label for the Flash Gordon game: Edited January 23, 2010 by Vic George 2K3

Well, here's my take on redoing the label for the Flash Gordon game: What? Re do the label. But the movie is a classic. If you have to do anything, reprogram the game to make it more like the movie. Nukey Shay #9 Posted January 24, 2010 Flash Gordon: Excellent concept, very nice-looking graphics, poor control scheme implementation.
Vic George 2K3 #10 Posted January 25, 2010 Creating a new game based on the movie would be a better option. The only spider-like creature we've seen in the movie was the one that almost devoured Flash when he was running from Prince Barin on Arboria.
Emehr #11 Posted January 25, 2010 Okay. A new game based on the movie. Here we go... Stage 1: Guide and safely crash land the plane into Zarkov's building then ask if you can use his telephone. Stage 2: In a Robotron/Smash TV point-of view, throw football-shaped gold things at Ming's minions, who may or may not be on the right pills. Stage 3: Try to "think" to Dale without saying something stupid. Stage 4: Guide the camera during the Aura torture scene to get the, erm, best shot. Stage 5: As a stranger in the temple, try the wood beast or die in this riveting game of pure chance. If stricken by the beasts venom, the player has the choice of begging for death or attempting to complete the game before going insane. Stage 6: Escape from Arboria! Navigate the treacherous hazards of Arboria and meet a Hawkman, who will take you to his palace. Stage 7: Fight Prince Barin to Vultans amusement on that floating spiky disk thingy. Then, when he arrives, try to grab Klytus and toss him on the spikes, with pleasure. Stage 8: Choice! Accept Ming's offer and be a King of Mingo or face destruction as you try to find a rocket cycle before being blasted to oblivion. Stage 9: On a rocket cycle, meet up with Vultan and try to lure war rocket Ajax, which has just been dispatched to bring back your body. Then, with the help of the Hawkmen, help plant bombs on the war rocket! [side quest: help Biro!] Stage 10: Guide the hijacked rocket Ajax straight into Mingo City just in time to thwart Ming's marriage to Dale. It'll be bigger than Knight Rider! Vic George 2K3 #12 Posted January 26, 2010 Updated version (my version of it, anyway): Stage 1: Guide and safely crash land the plane into Zarkov's building then ask if you can use his telephone. Stage 2: Guide Zarkov's rocket safely through various space bodies to crash-land on planet Mongo. Stage 3: In a Robotron/Smash TV point-of view, throw football-shaped gold things at Ming's minions. Stage 4: Escape to Arboria with the help of Princess Aura. Stage 5: As a stranger in the temple, try the wood beast or die in this riveting game of pure chance. Stage 8: Escape the destruction of the Hawkman palace. Stage 9: On a rocket cycle, meet up with Vultan and try to lure war rocket Ajax, which has just been dispatched to bring back your body. Then, with the help of the Hawkmen, help plant bombs on the war rocket! Stage 10: Guide the hijacked rocket Ajax straight into Mingo City just in time to thwart Ming's marriage to Dale. homerwannabee #13 Posted January 26, 2010 OK, I am not one for S & M, but this scene turned me on big time when I was kid. :lust: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WO-kfrG4fwQ
atari_envy #14 Posted January 29, 2010 Dang, these posts are making me want to watch this movie again. I LOVED it when I was a kid -- had the soundtrack on a 33 LP.
