Retro Rogue #1 Posted January 22, 2010 Boy, they're licensing out for everything nowadays - http://shop.neatorama.com/product-info.php?atari-joystick-gum-pid763.html
Zwackery #2 Posted January 22, 2010 I preordered an entire case from collectorsworld.com - they had the cheapest price per unit and I thought it would be a fun party favor. The product was added to their inventory in August 2009, I placed an order in October, and as of this week, it still hadn't shipped, so I canceled and got my refund. Maybe I'll try one of these other places. Given the amount of Nintendo and Namco candy available, I expected to see this in Hot Topic, but I've never seen them there. BigO #4 Posted January 22, 2010 (edited) I have a compulsion to buy some and make a working controller out of the tin. Ick...they have bacon gumballs, bacon "mints" and gummy bacon. Actually, the gummy bacon looks pretty cool, but I can't imagine the taste would be pleasant. Edited January 22, 2010 by BigO
Zwackery #5 Posted February 8, 2010 So it turns out that collectorsworld.com was sorry about the delay and wound up sending me a case of the gum (12 controllers) at a discount, which was very nice of them to do (although I had considered the overall order canceled...hmmm). Anyhow, here are some pictures of the counter display. The box lid has a cutout of the joystick, so when you fold the lid in half, the joystick is rather eye-catching. The tins themselves are mostly metal, but the two upper ridges of the stick as well as the shaft are made of rubber, so you can bend them (but there is nothing inside). These are smaller than a regular CX-40 but bigger than the joystick keychains put out a few years ago. And of all these gaming related gum products (Mario, Pac-Man, etc.) I've bought, this is the worst tasting gum ever - it tastes more like a mentholated cough drop than candy. Bleh!
