Recommended Posts

UK PAL and European PAL Colecovision consoles RF output is identical or PAL I (UK, Ireland) and PAL B/G (Germany, Italy etc)?

Other consoles have this difference.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAL#PAL_broadcast_systems

Video is practically identical and compatible among all PAL systems exept M and N, which are only used in parts of S America.

The problem among the other systems is with the displacement of the Audio frequency vs the Video. If they don't match, then chances are you won't get audio.

Some TVs and VCRs have country settings which should overcome it.

If you're using S-Video or Composite with seperate audio, it becomes a non-issue.

I have no problems on my TVs with PAL I or PAL B/G.

I only want to know if two different European PAL Colecovision versions have been produced, one with PAL I and the other with PAL B/G.

I'd assume "yes" if they were sold in those markets.

Older TVs didn't have the auto-sensing smarts of todays models and were very country specific - similar for consoles.

Also, the old computers tended to have UHF modulators for the Euro markets, and VHF for Australia and the US. Commodore is one of the few exceptions there.
