(FC3 - SNES) + 2600 = ........

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

The SNES portion of this FC3 was DOA so what is a guy to do? Well I fixed it alright, fixed it REAL GOOD!! I hacked up a FB2, added a cart port (and a bunch of other work) then shazzam! Better than new!! I still gotta put the cart glide in and a couple other trivial odds and ends but I wanted to share this pic as soon as I knew it was going to be a successful project.

Cheers,

Shawn

Nah, This mod was nothing compaired to what it would take to make a 2600\5200\7800. You would need custom pcb's and alot of patience. To keep the size down you would have to stack the pcb's too. I would think a hole in the motherboard of the top pcb to allow the edge connector from the bottom pcb to come up threw would be the best bet and some sort of digital signal converter so you could use 7800 sticks for the 5200 so you can keep it to 2 controller ports usable by all 3 systems so you don't have to switch out joysticks or add more controller ports but thats just off the top of my head. I don't even want to start to think about all the rest of the issues this monster would have.

What did you do to add the FB2 joystick ports?

I wired them right to the FC3 ports as they are DB9 connectors.

How do you select games on the 2600 portion of your modded FC3?

The O\J switch at the back of the console currently but there is lots of room to add a momentary switch in many different places on the console.

EPIC my friend.

Oh yeah, a 2600 7800 5200 leaves us room for one more slot, as 7800 is 2600 compatible, so what will it be?

7800 5200 INTV, 7800 5200 CV, or maybe 7800 5200 800XL?

Let me rephrase the question: how do you select game variations for the Atari 2600 on that thing?

By flipping the O/J switch back and forth at the back of the console.
