Gavica #1 Posted February 14, 2010 But I dunno if the site is really legit to buy the cases. http://www.vgmastersclub.com/version2/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=538:nes-custom-case-creation-and-modding&catid=92:retro-collecting-101&Itemid=93 actual cases http://www.mediashelving.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=W&Product_Code=USCG
SRGilbert #2 Posted February 14, 2010 Those look pretty nice, but I wouldn't have the room to keep all my carts in cases like that. Heck, I don't even use the Sega cases I have.
Gavica #3 Posted February 15, 2010 I'm trying to find a place where I can get just 1 or 2 so I can try them out first, but the few places I've seen charge out the a** for shipping.
Chris Leach #4 Posted February 15, 2010 I like the official cases....I have tons of sega cases that a certain someone keeps givin me....I get games though and put them in the original cases....they look nice....
Reaperman #5 Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) my play n trade started selling their nicer games in those. personally I don't care much for storing things in them at home, but for shopping it is nice to be able to see the case art, even if it is just an ink jet reproduction in their case. they once tried to cut me a deal on them, intending I store my collection that way, but I don't really believe they understood how significant my costs would have been. Needless to say I turned them down flat. Edited February 15, 2010 by Reaperman
Taskmaster99 #6 Posted February 16, 2010 those remind me of the rental games cases from waaaaaaaaaay back in the day. My Play n Trade uses those for the "High Dollar" stuff as well.
fiddlepaddle #7 Posted February 16, 2010 I bought a bunch of those for my N64 games. I like them. Be sure and get the ones that have the transparent slipcover (they come both ways) so you can insert the covers. I paid about $.50 each I think (approx 2005) from a different store than the one you linked to. I also got a bunch of used ones from a video game store that was closing up. CGQuarterly #8 Posted February 16, 2010 I don't agree with the author about leaving the white border. It makes them look more home-made. I just got a dozen of these cases from a fellow AAer and I like them a lot. In fact I liked them so much that I wrote a similar article for Classic Gaming Quarterly. http://www.cgquarterly.com/articles/gamecovers.htm Chris
Video #9 Posted February 16, 2010 I love how it looks, but hell, I have no room for the nekid carts I keep around here (most everything is kept off site in storage) so those are out for me. What I'd like, to keep carts clean while they aren't used, is a clamshell, like the old plastic VHS ones, but sized proper for the games (and a slip cover to put a graphic in it) now THAT would be sweet, keep the cart clean, and not add to much more room than the cart itself already takes up. SRGilbert #10 Posted February 16, 2010 I've considered trying to find small zip-lock bags to keep loose carts in, not sure if it would be worth the hassle though.
stones #11 Posted February 17, 2010 Keeps all of my nes games in plastic rental cases easily bought on ebay and various other sites for around 25 dollars for 50 of them and also around 1.50 single
DeadlyDiskKun #12 Posted February 17, 2010 Those are nice, I would actually be very happy buying 2 sets if I had the fundage.
Pyromaniac605 #13 Posted February 21, 2010 my local retro gaming shop does that for some of their games not just nes but snes and mega drive too.
nester #14 Posted February 21, 2010 I think they look great but I'd never have room for them. I'd love to have them for my N64 games though. I still can't find a good way to stack them on my shelf and know what they are without writing on the carts or making them look cheesy. It would be a good solution for a system with a smaller library of games like that one.
phaxda #15 Posted February 28, 2010 I use these for my 5200 collection, but after removing all of those tabs I am too lazy to do it for my NES collection as well! I am actually in the process of building semi-custom (I am modifying an IKEA offering) shelves for my loose NES collection.
