Pyromaniac605 #1 Posted February 18, 2010 You got to a second hand store like Cash Converters or something to buy some games but the always but the stickers on the labels and if not they always put those annoying big ones that leave metal stuck on your cartridge? thats why i buy from gametraders or ebay
Austin #2 Posted February 18, 2010 (edited) It sucks when independent or lesser-known shops do this, but I have to say, GameStop is single-handedly ruining the value of the majority of modern-era games.. Not only do they label up the outside cases, making you have to replace them 95% of the time because the labels will hardly ever come off, but starting a couple of years ago it's been declared store protocol to actually put more price tags ON THE INSERTS THEMSELVES.. So apparently sticking a price sticker on the outside spine wasn't good enough, even though it gets the job done--now employees have to slide out the case insert, slap a sticker on it, then slide the insert back in. It's friggin' retarded. Edited February 18, 2010 by Austin

Devbinks #6 Posted February 18, 2010 Yeah, I hate the way they put price stickers on games as well. Especially, as people have mentioned already, the way GameStop places stickers directly on the art sleeves of games. I disliked GS before they started that crap but I would still go into one from time to time. Now, I will never buy a game from them again. Ever. SRGilbert #7 Posted February 19, 2010 Plus it totally kills the third hand sales market too. I hate buying used games at a yard sale and seeing those stupid stickers all over the cases.
shadow460 #8 Posted February 19, 2010 I rememebr the last time I purchased new UMD movies from GameStop. I told them I didn't need any extra stickers. They said the extra stickers were for some kind of warranty. I told them I didn't want the warranty, either and you know what? They put the extra stickers on anyway! As soon as I got home, those stickers lost the good fight to a shot of Goo Gone. BTW, heat takes them off of paper and cardboard, but it is still kinda tricky. Rik #9 Posted February 19, 2010 (edited) I hate those friggin stickers also, but not everyone is a collector at those stores,so they don't understand or care,or see it our way.Unfortunately,no store seems to take this in regard, stickers eventually screw up boxes no matter what is done. Austin #10 Posted February 19, 2010 (edited) Not familiar with gamestop US store i guess correct? I worked for them for quite some time. I still have a few friends working for them, so I get the insider scoop. Get this: It's also protocol to throw away system boxes, just so they can use their custom GameStop boxes.. So good luck finding a good, complete, used system from them. That above was really the last straw. I was ready to buy a GC system a few weeks ago (They're only $30, so why not?), then I found that out. Bleh. It's a nightmare as it is sifting through their used game lot.. There's just really no reason to shop there with how they treat their product. It's too bad, because there are some sweet deals on old PS2 games. Tr3vor #11 Posted February 19, 2010 Thats why i never go to gamestop. play n trade is the only used game store i buy stuff in. they put one sticker and leave it at that. the only annoying thing is that the stickers on the nes, snes, and gameboy carts (with my experience) are REALLY sticky, and when you pull them off, its still sticky at the spot the sticker is. nightwheel #12 Posted February 19, 2010 (edited) Thats one problem I have had with the Atari carts I bought from a local thrift store. They used little round stickers to price stuff. No real damage was done to any of the carts I got. Though I did rub a small bit of red on my Cosmic Ark cart. While trying to clean off some residue left behind for the slicker. But again, it didn't hurt it much at all. And it's still OK looking. I'm tempted to go back to the thrift store. And give them a suggestion about proper sticker placement on old games like the ones I got. Edited February 19, 2010 by nightwheel
NinjaWarrior #13 Posted February 20, 2010 (edited) I hate that at Gamestop, Gamecrazy don't do that... Some goodwills or thrift store write the price on the Label Edited February 20, 2010 by NinjaWarrior
cybercylon #14 Posted February 20, 2010 There are many more options in SW PA for used games like the Exchange that don't pull crap like putting stickers on the game inserts. I hardly ever go to gamestop anymore. And if I want a new release that badly, I've been going to Costco lately. New releases are usually $5-$10 cheaper. STICH666 #15 Posted February 20, 2010 (edited) All the Gamestops by me actually have managers who are gamers (most opened Play-n-Trades) so they don't stick the prices on the paper covers. They leave a piece of the wax paper on the sticker so it never actually makes any contact. Edited February 20, 2010 by STICH666
Rik #16 Posted February 20, 2010 (edited) The last time i commented at EB about those damn stickers, they basically just rolled their eyes and said okay whatever : Edited February 20, 2010 by Rik

I often get NR games on Newegg, they're no taxes, no shipping (useually) and often $3 cheaper on top of that. IRL is only good for Instant gratification, but useless beyond that. (and most stuff I'll buy older anyways, and get for $20-$40 area, instead of $60 MSRP...)
BDW #18 Posted February 24, 2010 I remember preordering a game from them, and right before the guy handed it to me he plastered stickers on the plastic wrap
