RGB_Gamer #1 Posted February 19, 2010 I am looking for a full set of Vectrex Reproduction Overlays. I don't have the skill, time, or knowledge to make my own decent ones, nor can I find any on any websites (they seldom show up on ebay, and when they do, I never get to bid on them). Let me know what you got and your price. thanks!

And also can be done at a reasonable price. I will do it. But I will leave the cutting to the buyer to save myself the time. I just wanna make up some cool homebrew ones really bad. DaytonaUSA #7 Posted March 2, 2010 I'd be interested in a set as well, nonner. However, the hard part here is simply finding all the original overlays to get the designs from. Some overlays, like Pole Position, are very hard to find. My problem is that outside of 3 I've been able to purchase, most overlays come with the game and box, which I don't need with my multicart. I'd love to own all the games, but the multicart was not only worth it money wise, but also since it has homebrew games like Moon Lander on it.

I don't have the classic gaming place I used to go near me any longer as I live in Columbus now, so I'm stuck to just looking here and on eBay.

HFK #11 Posted March 4, 2010 Original overlays should only be with original carts and boxes. It is really annoying to see all the loose carts for sale when someone has original overlays for their multi-cart. I know some of the games are not cheap but the library is so small if you have a Vectrex you should have the boxed games next to it. Sorry, I just hate seeing this stuff separated. Just my opinion. I would be interested in good repro overlays though so I could leave mine in their sleeves.
DaytonaUSA #12 Posted March 4, 2010 I would never seperate an overlay, box and game. However, what I'm trying to say is, if all there is is an overlay, of course I'm going to pick it up. The damage has already been done at that point. If the price is right, I'll buy the fully boxed game with overlay and all. However, there's little point in buying a game for 40 bucks when someone has a loose overlay for sale at 4 dollars. It's not like I'm asking people to break up complete packages or anything. I mean, if you had a complete version of Mario Kart 64, except for the manual, and a friend had a manual and no game and box and wanted to sell it to you, wouldn't you take it? HFK #13 Posted March 5, 2010 (edited) I'm all for buying loose overlays, I just never find them, especially for $4. It might get to the point though like in other areas of collecting where a seller makes more money parting something out than selling it complete. I really wish somebody would make repro overlays again, good ones. I think there would be a nice little market for them and there would be profit to be made by someone. As for the manual comparison that really is not the same. The overlay is a big part of the game as anyone finds out with just the cart. A manual does not relate at all to gameplay anymore since all you need to play the game can be found on the internet. The only reason for needing the manual is to have something complete or to have it complete to sell for more money. You can find pics of the overlays and even hi-res scans but that does not help you with the gamplay until our computers can project a holographic image onto our Vectrexex. Like I said I hope repros are made, I'll buy a set. Edited March 5, 2010 by HFK

Richard H. #22 Posted April 15, 2011 I have some of these overlays and can say they are THE best that have ever been made for the Vectrex. They are better than any of the previous repros and even the original ones.

spoonman #24 Posted June 11, 2011 I was just wondering if you are only limiting your sales to those 2 games for legal reasons or because you don't have high enough quality scans of originals. I would love to have more reproduction overlays to keep my originals safe and preserved. It's very hard to find used overlays that are in good shape I've noticed too. I'm very surprised we aren't seeing more of these available. Proving once again that the Vectrex never got the love and respect that it so deserves! Anyway, If you are in need of high quality scans I could help out with 5 mint overlays. I also plan on buying more soon so I would do what I can to help you. Here's what I currently have: VGO Vectrex games owned I personally think you could sell a lot more overlays if you had more to provide. With International shipping costing so much it would make sense to ship 10 overlays for just about the cost it would be to ship just 2. Thanks! Anyone have a set of Vectrex Reproduction Overlays? I am currently selling them in pairs. Good to see that you got them done. As soon as my finances are sorted, I'll be ordering a set - just really need the Minestorm as I don't have Pole Position anymore ... you bought it off me with the Overlay a while ago.
