Save them thar boxes

I thought the following mention might be interesting, given all the attention paid the last few days to saving original boxes in the Ebay and 5200 forums.

 

There's a short article in the latest issue (Dec. 2002) of Classic Toy Trains magazine on page 24. Auctioneer Glenn Ralston has had his third auction of nothing but original toy train boxes. Out of 100 lots offered, just over half sold for under $100. But, 35 were in the $100 - $300 range, a dozen in the $300 - $500 range and a few even more. The highest bid was $2240 for the lot containg all of the boxes for an entire prewar Lionel set (didn't say how many boxes in the set).

 

So in the future, we might expect to see Ebay box auctions. If there haven't been any already!
