Recommended Posts

Hi :|

Is my French CBS ColecoVision on the way to heaven ?.

Can it be TMS 9928/9 ?.

did you try other cartridge?

Did you clean cartridge port? and Cartridge Connector?

Hi Youki :)

I have tried to "test" some games including all my homebrews, and my homebrews they work all.

However, I have also tried a few pieces from Coleco Inc., with some minor graphical errors.

So my conclusion must be that there must be cleaned carefully with some isopropyl. :)

Could be the power supply or a dirty/corroded power switch

If not at least you have garbled video and can replace defective video IC's or the VDP

Hope you get it working.

Cabbage Patch Kids was an over rated game anyway. :)

(Just kidding-- I actually liked it better than the CV version of Pitfall!)

Game Over...

Now it's finally over with my French CV console.

I am quite sure that my TMS9929A is sidelined.

Now the question is whether i can replace U9 with TMS9929ANL.

I do not know what (NL) means, and whether it can readily replace the original chip.

Any...

Your French Console uses a TMS9929 ? not a TMS9928 ?

It takes time to replace the VDP, I have a couple consoles that need them. The other problem is actually finding the chip.

If you decide to replace the VDP, I would recommend a socket from Jameco. Then in the event it fails again, replacing would be a breeze.

All European Colecovision uses TMS9929 for PAL and SECAM output afaik.
