JonnyBritish #1 Posted February 26, 2010 After reading about that save the arcade competition I have been wanting to get over to Star Worlds in DeKalb, IL. Well apart from it being a bit cold I kept warm by playing too many games of Robotron on the multi Williams machine. After all these years Robotron with twin sticks and great sound is awesome. only got up to 140,000 ish points but enough to clear the high score tables apart from the number one spot at 1.1 million (yikes) Great to see an arcade like this when so many from my old town in the UK( Seaside town) closed down. Hoping to see Championship Sprint and Scramble there at some point but I will definately be returning to take out those dastardly robots and save the human population once more John
Dr Galaga #2 Posted February 27, 2010 (edited) +1 I was just there the other day. I try to get out there every few months (about a two hour drive for me each way). You just missed Scramble. I think he pulled it about 6 months ago! Pat (the owner) seems to put his heart and soul into the place and there are always different games in there every time I go. Watch for the contests that they are having to celebrate their 25 anniversary (I just won the Space Invaders Deluxe one). Crazy Climber #3 Posted February 27, 2010 I am from DeKalb originally. Got to get back there to see Star World! I can't remember if it is the same arcade they had there when I was younger. I moved to MN when I was really young but had family in DeKalb so we would visit for a few weeks every summer. I spent so much time in that DeKalb arcade, many good memories. The one that stands out the most was the Neo Geo they had. That was the first time I had ever played one and it was everything I thought it would be. Must of spent $20 on The Super Spy....
