This is an actual screenshot taken on my actual STE. Yes, it *is* running at 800x600 w/4 colours! Oh, and I did crop it according to MyAtari Magazine regulations ;)

COOL!, what software is that using then?

and how fast is it? did the image take an age to decode?

I'm impressed

It took about 20 seconds to decode all the images including the animated GIF. I'm using the demo of CAB 2.0 on my MiNT 4MB STE!

I'm confused...is this a screenshot of your STE actually online on Myatari website? As in if I get the programs/os like you have; CAB/Mint, etc. (whatever else I need to get online) I can surf with my ST and get graphic results of this quality while online? Or did you just download a screen image which you are looking at offline?

Well, then, I'm truly impressed and want to get my STf online VERY soon...but I need a modem...and the software. A couple questions though; You say that it's running at 600x800 with four colors, do you mean the ST medium res of 640x200? If not, how did you manage to get 800x600 graphics on an STE? That's higher than monochrome res! Also, does it (cab, etc.) work with low res 320x240(200?) with 16 colors? If so, how well does it work/look...

Well CAB will work in any res. It looks the best at low rez though.

The high rez is actually a mystery. There's been a board installed in my ST with standard VGA out... No labels or anything on it. It came that way.

Well that's VERY cool for you...but sucks for me, since you can't tell me what board it is and if it would work on my 1040ST if I knew what it was. I'd love to get an upgrade board like that...

I'm sure that was quite humerous but it was either over my head or I just am at a loss for lack of a point of reference...

Really is bizzare stuff that draws a complete blank to an american that is quite common over here. OK translations:

You Jammy Git = You Lucky Bastard

Ner Ner Nerrr Ner Ner = That childish noise you make when you have/done/own something better than your mates, normally whilst you have your thumb on your nose waving your hand back and worth, possibly sticking your tongue out... if you know what I mean?

:)

any clearer?

yes, that's clearer, we have no saying or alternative saying to the "you jammy git" part, and the childish noise we would write as Na nana na na na...so I'd never have guessed either one! I'm actually familiar with a lot of british terms as I have a lot of british friends from both college (transfer/exchange) and from my couple years of touring and staying at hostiles around the world where I met a lot of British (along with Aussies and Kiwi's). But I don't know it all...did you know that being "pissed" in America doesn't have anything to do with being drunk, but means your extremely angry? As in "I'm pissed off" or "I'm pissed at you." So if you say your pissed to an American, they will probably think your angry about something. Also if you ask for a "fag" over here, your not going to get a cigerette but a weird look from the person you asked and possibly a beating or a sexual encounter with a person of your sex? I could go on and on with terms that mean completely different things to us than they do to you, but that's enough for now... :D

In America it's

Neener Neener Neener!

Not where I come from, I'd never understood that one either! I guess it's a VERY regional thing...

Yeah I knew the "Pissed" & "Fag" thing. Actually can be used in those context's over here too :), all depends on the context of the sentence and the look on your face/ability to stand upright :)

From chats I have on the net it does seem very easy to loose someone from America with local slang, but not vica versa. I suppose we get exposed to more American slang due to most films being American.

Speaking of films, if it has been released over there, go and see "28 days later" english film about human race being wiped out (again). Very good film, although for and english film set in Engalnd the geography was attrocious! "M602 27 Miles NE of Manchester" Wha! The M602 is about 6 miles long and just touches the West side of manchester, and there is no way it takes 3 days to drive there from london! :)

ah well :) still recommend it :)
