Worst Tempest conversion EVER!

Recommended Posts

The cabinet shape looks exactly like a Tempest cabinet. Along with that the control panel looks retro fitted and I can't believe this would have come out of the factory looking like that...

I only see a World Series upright cabinet. :?

It was originally a Tempest, someone converted it into a World Series Baseball

Ohmygod, the pain.. I had a Tempest upright once, I wish I had never sold it!!

Maybe the arcade owner got tied of the machine allways breaking and decided to turn it into something more reliable? :P

All the time and money to do it also, you have to swap the monitor to a non vector, cover the beautiful Tempest artwork with crappy "cabin" stick on paneling, purchase the conversion kit then re wire everything to make it playable. I just don't see how, even back in the 80's a profit was turned out of this. Reminds me of the Dedicated Star Wars that was turned in to a Vigilante :woozy:

i'm in the same boat. starting to read this thread i thought 'man, why did i sell my tempest?'. well, the monitor was on the fritz, and the place where i had it stored was moving so i had to get the game out of there. i was about to go to japan for a few months, and selling it seemed the right thing to do. oh well, live and learn.

but this thing is a travesty! and uuugly!

My cab is a Tempest cab, but not Tempest.

I didn't do that tho!!!!

Bought it with Toki JAMMA in it.

For now I have a PC in there (running Vantage).

I replaced the side-art (such that it was) with Tempest repro side-art (and a used Tempest marquee), but I'm not sure I can go the rest and try to piece Tempest insides back in.

I've considered it, but that's a huge job that's probably beyond me...

I actually didn't recognize it after I bought it as a Tempest cab. It had been so long since I saw one, it didn't click right away, but I knew it looked familiar. Then I opened the back and there was some (really bad condition) Tempest information stapled to the inside of the door.

I couldn't believe someone would do that to a Tempest cab..

(no offense to Toki, which is a fun game in it's own right, but it's no Tempest)
