Mercenaries - locking up

So I bought Mercenaries(plain Xbox) + several other games for a low price. Sadly, it locks up. I can play for 5 minutes and it locks, or it can go for hours.

 

Any way around this? The only thing I have yet to try is downing to normal definition. That fixed my Tecmo classics compilation(plain xbox) where it originally crashed on startup.

 

Frustrating. Why? I'm really enjoying this sandboxy "GTA goes military"-style game.

 

I've looked through forums and such for hope, but to no avail.

You could try installing the game to the HDD and see if that corrects the issue.

If it doesn't, I'd send your 360 in for repairs.

I found Mercenaries 2 was really buggy, mine did not crash but had a lot of glitches.

This is Mercenaries 1, not 2, for the original xbox. Setting it down to regular definition did not help. This is getting to be a dealbreaker.

Whoops, thought you were talking part 2 (which is no where near as good as the first one) Thats a shame it's not working properly, that is one of my all time favorite games! Avoid part 2 though, it's not bad but it's your typical "ruined by EA" story, it could have been sooooo much better. It will only let you down.

I've found that some supposedly compatible Xbox games get pretty bogged down on the 360. The KOTOR games get really choppy in places and have frozen up on me as well.

Yeah put EA into the equation and ruin a good game.
