tz101 #1 Posted March 6, 2010 Is it necessary to have the booster grip controller for port #2 to play this game? I just picked it up at a used game store and of course there was no booster grip included.

tz101 #3 Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) OK, so would another controller plugged into port #2 work in place of the booster grip? Does anyone know of a pinout diagram that would allow a standard Atari stick to effectively be changed into a booster grip? BigO #4 Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) I'm not sure what you mean about plugging the booster grip into port #2. I can't recall if the game uses port 2 in general, but the booster grip used the same port as the controller it was attached to. I built an adapter to allow playing the game with a standard joystick. Unfortunately, it isn't just a matter of passive rerouting of wires with this approach. It takes some active electronics. In my case, I used a transistor. I believe others have built the adapter with an inverter chip. Here's mine: http://www.atariage....ost__p__1327126 Edited March 6, 2010 by BigO

IIRC the Booster Grip uses a paddle input. However, if you have one you can use a ColecoVision controller instead of a VCS controller. Also, there is a topic that shows how to make a pass-through adapter to give booster grip functionality for this game to any VCS joystick: Omega Race Booster Grip alternative Edited March 6, 2010 by A.J.
