José Pereira #1 Posted March 9, 2010 Hello. As I said I was thinking in new Arkanoid(s). Never seen with new ideas. The first one is the 2D 4Players. You can control it 2Players by Joystick/Paddles, other by Keyboard and the fourth by the Computer. ATARI800 with 4joystick/(Paddles?) and four Players. ONLINE? Anyone have idea how to...? Here comes the Screen: I think it shows for itself, but you can see better the .g2f/.xex files: arkanoid_zx_withPMs.zip If any of you can see this on G2F and say me if I will get possible Errors on Badlines, because it is using Lines8 in the P2&3 changing colours it would be great (I changed it and get Errors on G2F but no error when running the it on the Atari800WinPlus Emulator, from where's this picture). Now the real tricky part of this Topic: "Who will code this?" Someone interested? Thanks and greetings. Yours Atarily. José Pereira.
+GroovyBee #2 Posted March 9, 2010 Now the real tricky part of this Topic:"Who will code this?" Someone interested? Good effort but balancing the game play in something like will be hard. I don't think it'll offer much of a challenge to the player with so little space between the bat and the bricks.
Heaven/TQA #3 Posted March 9, 2010 from technical point of view I don't see any issue here...
analmux #4 Posted March 9, 2010 Looks like an interesting idea. Good work Jose
PeteD #5 Posted March 9, 2010 Looks ok as far as "working" goes. "badlines" you can get around by moving graphics up/down by 1 pixel and/or having a 1 pixel gap between graphics where a lot of colour changes are needed. You can also use bitmap mode so there are no badlines. Even with badlines though if you change colours in the correct order there won't be a problem. G2F will probably warn you or give you an error that the changes have run over onto the next scanline but if the player you're changing isn't visible till the other side of the screen then its usually ok and you won't see any glitches. As far as how good a game it would be is unknown because of the proximity of everything. Will you have time to react if your ball hits one of those really close bricks? José Pereira #6 Posted March 9, 2010 Hi again. For any of you that aren't in to get into G2F here's the technical information: 5th Player Enabled in Bat's sides: Top Bat: M0&1 / Down Bat M2&3 Left Bat:M0&1 / Right Bat M2/3 Player0&1 for the Players Bats (Middle): Top Bat:P0 / Down Bat:P1 / Left Bat:P0 / Right Bat:P1 (Left/Right never get into Top/Down Bats) Bat's expanded and Shooting Bat: The Missiles remains at the sides with the same size. The Middle Lines (P&1 turn from Normal size into Double size, like you see on the Bottom Bat) You can have different sizes of the Bat's in each Player (even a large Quadruple Size one) Bricks: PF1-Dark colour and PF2-Light Colour: Possible un-destructible Bricks. P2&3-Colour Bricks. Possible 3rd colour when they overlap. Ball: PF1 and PF2. Possible Bonus (but trying to find why it will get into one Player and not other(s). Borders: Backgr.-Black. About the Screen, you could get the Bat 1char more back. Changing Bricks from 2x2Chars into 1x1Char it seems not good IMHO looking and it will probably get me running out of P2&3. Two will be possible but only on Top. as I kinow, I couldn't have the last Line in Hi-resol. Taking off that left/Right Bricks and one the bat one Char back and you'll have 5chars space and 9Blocks maxi. by Line. This can of course be in Last/Trickiest Levels. You can have only 7Blocks by Line. Normal Arkanoid uses 13Blocks wide and only 11 on ZX/NES (256pixels wide), but here you'll have 4Balls going on and the real challenge will be more than Bricks, fighting sometimes four possible Balls at a time in each Player. But I'm still trying to find where/how to put Scores&Lifes. Thanks for your comments. You may send your suggestions/ideas. Greetings. José Pereira. Mathy #7 Posted March 9, 2010 Hello José The first one is the 2D 4Players. You can control it 2Players by Joystick/Paddles, other by Keyboard and the fourth by the Computer. ATARI800 with 4joystick/(Paddles?) and four Players. Why not support the MultiJoy Interface? It will let you connect more then 2 (and up to 16 if needed) to an XL or XE(GS). You can read more about other MultiJoy games and the MultiJoy Interface on my special stuff page. greetings Mathy
