jeremysart #1 Posted March 9, 2010 When I first heard of the GO, I was all against it (and still kind of am) because I am not for the "digital copy" movement, and I find it stupid that I would get the GO when I aleady have a library of UMD's that cant be played on it, but I am not all against downloadable content. I recently looked through the list of PS1 games released for download, which almost makes it worth having. They just need to add Doom, Vigilante 8 and a few other title to the list and we'll be good to go. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PSOne_Classics
DeadlyDiskKun #2 Posted March 9, 2010 I only own one for the Wi-Fi internet, it makes a nice little portable computer on the cheap. I dont even play games on it at all.
Hatta #3 Posted March 9, 2010 (edited) If you already have a PSP (I'm guessing you do, if you have UMDs already), why not just rip the games you want from disc, transfer to a MS, and run them from CFW yourself? BTW, there's already a Doom Port for the PSP. Edited March 9, 2010 by Hatta

Yeah, that, and once you mod your system to rip the discs, you can play any 16 bit doom (or the GBA, or yor own PSX copy of doom etc )
shadow460 #5 Posted March 10, 2010 I believe Alcohol 120% can rip PS1 games. The PS1 emulator can be run under custom firmware and will run the iso files you get from Alcohol. Without L2, L3, R2, and R3 controls and the second analog stick, the PSP is not fully compatible with most PS1 games. That's why I never use it for that purpose. That, and I have two PS1 consoles at my house anyway.
Trooper #6 Posted March 10, 2010 I've been playing all of my old PS1 games on my PSP for ages now. I would never ever in my life even think of paying Sony once again for something I already own.
Austin #7 Posted March 10, 2010 The GO by itself probably isn't worth it, even if you're psyched about the PS1 games.. However, from my understanding it's fully mod-capable now and would be worth it simply for that--it will surely put any other handheld to shame in that department with its nice screen and control layout. Dittohead Servbot #24 #8 Posted March 12, 2010 I'm personally disappointed that they didn't make it compatible with real PS1 discs, but I suppose that would've made the handheld quite cumbersome.
jeremysart #9 Posted March 22, 2010 (edited) So the GO is hackable?? Didn't know. I had a hacked PSP 1000, which was nice because I just put all my UMD iso's on a flash card and never had to lug them around. I also had the PSP Doom, Heretic, Duke Nukem 3D and Hexen to name a few. But unfortunately it recently went missing after I stepped on it and broke the screen. So how hard is it to hack the GO? Should I get one just for that, or stick with the 1000 where you don't have to worry so much about ruining the FW flashing it? I didn't know there was a good PS1 emulator yet, when I first got my hacked 1000 there were no PS1 emulators yet. That would be cool because I have a decent library of PS1 games I wouldn't mind playing on the go. Im miss playing Locoroco too Why PSP? Why did you get stepped on? Trooper #10 Posted March 23, 2010 You don't need a PS1 emulator, it's "built in" to the firmware so you just rip the game from disc, convert the iso with......can't remember the name PSXtoPSP or Auto Popstation....or something. It's been a while
STICH666 #11 Posted March 23, 2010 I got an original with low firmware so I could do the "easy as an xbox softmod" firmware hack. It's great. I use a converter to convert all my PS1 games into ISO then into a format my PSP can read. I also love GBA games on it. It also has the best screen on any affordable handheld.
