SIO2PC Users: Cheap USB Adaptor (UK)

Recommended Posts

In the documentation for the Mac OS X Peripheral Emulator, users are directed to a specific Serial/USB adapter known to work with the Atari SIO signal. The specified part is hard to locate and comparatively expensive, so I punted on a cheaper (2.75 GBP) option on ebay:

USB 2.0 TO RS232 SERIAL DB9 9 PIN ADAPTER CABLE GPS PDA

It arrived this morning, and although I haven't had a chance to try it with Mac OS X yet, it works perfectly under Windows 7! I had difficulty locating a working Win 7 driver, but I eventually found this one (attached). Once I'd set up Aspeqt with the correct COM port number, this thing works like a dream.

Having trouble getting OS X to recognize the adapter. Not sure if it's a problem with the unit or the drivers. Anyway - it works with Win 7. :)
