seanhq #2 Posted March 12, 2010 What would you offer? http://harrisburg.craigslist.org/vgm/1639847397.html I use to own this coin-op. I sold mine a year or so ago for $350.00, so based on that and the game being from 1986 with a unique conversion class (not a JAMMA cabinet), I'd offer $300.00 - $400.00 USD for it. edit: I just checked eBay and see someone selling the same game with a BIN of $450.00, so I still feel my suggestion of offering $300.00 - $400.00 would be a good

+save2600 #4 Posted March 12, 2010 Haha. I would offer $50 for it. Why start high when you can start low? Generic/non-popular video games aren't worth squat right now. Haven't for about 25 years, so offering $50 is not too far off. If it's a private seller, I wouldn't offer more than $100 and that's only if you really, really want it. $300-$400, it better be so clean, you can take it to bed with you
Cebus Capucinis #5 Posted March 12, 2010 I would offer $75 -- if they get back to you claiming your offer is insulting, give it about a week because they won't be getting any OTHER offers on it. Then call back because they'll be more willing to sell! Arcade cabinet prices are really fickle based on geographic area, though -- what goes for $50 here easily get $350 in seanhq's area and might sell for even more in your area....I still can't figure out how that economic system works!!! Looking at the one on craigslist verses the one on eBay, the CL one has the original marquee and looks to be pretty clean and probably in that house hold for a while, so it won't have all the "on a route" bumps and scuffs. Maybe $350.00 is a little high to offer, but I still feel if it's in nice shape and if you really want it, that's an ok price, especially if the person is local to you. Like others have suggested, you could offer much lower, but I think anything under $100.00 USD for a nice working coin-op would be a slap in the sellers face no matter what geographic area you live in. If you do end up getting it, let us know what you ended up paying. If the seller is local, go over and check it out. Have a couple hundred cash on you and start making in-person offers. Start at $100.00 and go from there. Cash talks sometimes

Cash talks sometimes So does being there in person, ready to pickup! I can't tell you how frustrating it is (especially as a reputable seller) when someone tries to talk you down over the internet. Without even seeing the game! Typical 1st question is: "will you accept lower"? lol Doesn't matter what you price it at, people ALWAYS want a better price. Cash in hand and being there will speak volumes about your interest level.
VectorGamer #8 Posted March 12, 2010 Do I really really want this cabinet? No... I'm interested because I think my kids would love to have a driving game to play in the Retrocade. With that I would not have a problem of offering $80 to $100 for the cabinet. Another reason why is that I have limited space. I estimated room for 7 cabinets. I now have 2 in the Retrocade and a Pole Position cabinet I'm working on in the garage. So, in the future if I add more MAME cabinets to play Defender and Robotron and I need room I would like to consider parting with Speed Buggy and therefore not making a hefty investment. I'm in a position where I can't lose. If I get the cabinet for $80 - $100 that's great and if I don't I won't even utter an "awe shucks."

So call the guy up if he's local, say you want to check it out in person, bring $100.00 in 20's, if you like how it looks and works, offer $80, if he says no, say "I've got $100.00 cash" deal or no deal? jboypacman #10 Posted March 12, 2010 I agree with everyone else see if you can go over there with a friend and check it out and then decided what you would like to offer on it.
djpubba #11 Posted March 12, 2010 I had a really hard time selling my Speed Buggy in Seattle. In the end, I took $225 for it, which I only got because it had a brand new monitor in it.
Mark Wolfe #12 Posted March 13, 2010 (edited) this is one of my all time favorite arcade games. I've been playing it a lot recently in MAME using my spinner controller on my mame cab. not quite as a cool as a wheel and gas pedal but it works ok. I think this would make a great addition to any family game room if you have the space. I think anything in the $100-$200 price range based on what condition I can tell from the photo it is in is fair but you really need to open it up, check the screen for burn-in and all that to determine price. Crazy Climber #13 Posted March 14, 2010 Speed Buggy, for some reason this game does not sell well. I have seen several on Craigslist in my area over the last few years. Some of the asking prices were high so they never sold but the average price seemed to be around $150 for the ones that did sell. The cheapest I saw one go was $75 but that was gone pretty quick and it was not in very good shape. Save2600 is right though that non popular arcade games have dropped so low in price it's not even funny. There is a Motocross USA, Terra force and 1942 clone (can't remember the name) all struggling so hard to sell in my area for $100 each. For the speed buggy I would go $150 maximum, assuming it played well, great cosmetic shape and had a nice monitor, $100 if it is a little rough. I would be pretty amazed if you got it for under $100 but it is possible. Most people do not let them go that cheap though unless they really want it out of the house, this guy sounds like he will wait for a decent offer. I say $100 to $
Crazy Climber #14 Posted March 14, 2010 Here is a decent STUN Runner in my area for $125 (I think Stun runner is a better game personally) http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/vgm/1642949463.html Also a John Elway stand up for $75 http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/vgm/1638690019.html Sky Shark for $100 (needs a cord) http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ram/ele/1624348061.html Double header for $150 http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/csw/for/1620403119.html You get my point
+save2600 #15 Posted March 14, 2010 Wish I lived closer to Eden Prairie. I'd be willing to give that S.T.U.N. Runner a good home if it's as nice as the pics make it out to be.

I have talked with the guy, it is in very good condition. Said the speaker gives him a crackle now and then but I am sure thats nothing. He just can't move the thing, I was going to check it out last summer when it was at $300 but I went with another pinball machine instead (Demolition man if you were wondering)
Mirage #17 Posted March 14, 2010 I need to get a truck or trailer. I had no idea prices had gone so low... I could fill up my hypothetical basement arcade with cool games on the cheap!
