Anyone made a supercartridge for the 2600 ?

Recommended Posts

It would not be very difficult to download all the ROMS - put them on a large flash chip. Write a basic navigation GUI, and make a cartridge with 95% of the avaiable games. This cartridge could even have a PCMCIA slot on it so that the flash could be upgraded very easily.

Sure would save wear on our colletions. :?:

Sean Kelly has make this. The first Multicart has 256 games inside and has 8 little dip-switches to choose the games.

And the second cart has onscreen menu to choose the games, but there are only 255 games on it.

I own only the first release. :)

It's so funny how easy everyone claims this stuff is. I've been working on a development flash cart for the past few days, much less difficult than a multicart. :-)

Not flaming... I just wish everyone that said this stuff was easy, would make the stuff, so we all could benefit.

I've made a socketed multicart that you can plug 8Mbit eproms into. It has dip switches to select normal mode, F8, or F16 bankswitching with or without using the Atari 128-bit ram chip which supports about 95% of atari roms. I tried piggybacking 3 8Mbit roms together and added some logic to only enable one at a time, but it didn't work, so now I just swap eproms. It's hard to unplug a big IC from a socket, but a socket unplugs from another one easily, so I just use two stacked sockets in my setup.
