xtophre #1 Posted March 16, 2010 This actually happened with my snes version 2(licensed new version of the super nintendo that came out in the late 90s). Originally I thought it was simply because the SNES was old. Well this occurs on my FC-16 Go and it apparently happens no matter what. I believe its a cartridge problem. As you may know, when you shift a catridge around in the port it will reset or freeze. The problem is, a few of my carts can easily be shifted and they will freeze. Its really annoying. I believe its due to the loose board inside the cart. I am wondering if there is any way to fix this, to prevent the cart from shifting around. Whats really annoying is when it resets and ends up erasing all my save data. This only really happens with a few games, namely: Secret of evermore and Ogre Battle. I believe its simply due to crappy building of the cartridges and usage over time exaggerating the build quality of the cart. Its getting frustrating when my games reset. nester #2 Posted March 17, 2010 What are you doing to cause so much cart shifting in the first place? I know that can be a problem. It seems like you can look at the SNES too hard and the games will reset. Why you you need to shift them in the port when the game is on?

It seems like you can look at the SNES too hard and the games will reset. Why you you need to shift them in the port when the game is on? Well the FC-16 Go is a portable SNES. As the cartridges stick out the back and you can move the unit around, its very easy to shift the cartridge.
Pyromaniac605 #4 Posted March 17, 2010 Well thats just a problem with the cart slot if it held the cart properly it wouldn't be able to shift. -Darren-
SeanXTC #5 Posted March 17, 2010 HA! I thought it was only my Snes that did that!
SeanXTC #6 Posted March 17, 2010 Sorry to double post. Also, I didn't know such a device existed... the fc16 look a cool bit of kit, were they only avalible in NTSC? Also forgot to add, if you knock my Snes cart it not only goes off but erases the save game too... happened many-a-time with "Link to the Past". Video #7 Posted March 17, 2010 (edited) For you're original SNES, it's probably that the cart port is just relaxed a bit. For you're Go, eh...you might could help by wedging a piece of cardboard between the system and cart to help the cart "stay put" once you get it in. Otherwise, all I can really say, don't bump it any more than you have to, make sure the carts are clean (though that's the first thing most people will say/try anyways) For the SNES, you may be able to get a new cart port and help ease the problem, though that may be more work than it's worth, and some of those thrid party ports are cheap pieces of shit that can damage the carts (or sure as hell feel like it) For the go, while unlikely, it is possible one of the pins is bent, you can push the dust flap in and look at the port, it should look even all the way across, if they aren't, you can try to fix it, replace it, or talk to whoever you got it from (they may replace it for free) Edited March 17, 2010 by Video

When the Snes does make a re-apperance I shall wedge the cart with cardboard... It was more when going to turn the system off that you could accidently knock it. It did it to me about a year ago when I turned it off... a good few hours of "Link to the Past" gone! I have had it since it first was released (I was about 8 then). It started doing it after a few years of owning it... I was still young and me and my brother could get into a fight over a game and knock it while it was turned on, deleting the save of the current game often causing a big fight! Ahh, good times. xtophre #9 Posted March 17, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the replies. Yeah its really annoying but at least its only a few carts that have this issue. Its just to bad its the carts that I love; Secret of Evermore and Ogre Battle. I will try your suggestions. As for the FC 16 Go. You can buy it from amazon and other places but I buy my stuff from http://stoneagegamer.com/ . They are really reliable and ship stuff to you fairly fast. Note though that, all of the famiclones(the name or manufactured clone nes and snes machines), have the tab in them that prevent International carts to play. China has been doing this for a while now. They aren't intentionally trying to lock out these devices from playing international carts, they just think that its possible to blow the machine up by plugging in a cart backwards... You will have to drill out the tabs to get them to play the international games but once you do they play fine. The only issue is that after that, if your cart shifts(and it will because the port is much to big for the import carts), your game will freeze, reset or worse... Erase your save games... jeremysart #10 Posted March 20, 2010 My SNES had a similar issue, but with just turning off. I remember playing Doom, and getting all the way to the last level of the second episode, right as I was about to kick some Cyber Demon ass, my cat bumped the SNES and it turned off
