Valhalla Xbox 360 system rumor?

Recommended Posts

Anyone find info if this is fact or not? I'm reading at various places a new board design may be in the works (Valhalla). I've had the original non HD 360 since release (replaced once luckily) and I want to grab this thing if its true.

I know the new ones are mostly (I hope) problem free. My CD drive is getting really loud and I've been waiting for a newer design 360.

I got a friend who wants to sell me a Modern Warfare 2 limited edition box. Anyone have one? Is it quiet?

I've got a MW2 console. It's just as quiet as the other Jaspers on the market. I had some issues with it freezing up last week-end, although I am thinking it is because of my crappy wireless setup. (It froze up on Netfix and Lips, two activities that require lots of server access.) I plan on switching it out with my upstairs 360 that's hardwired and seeing if I have any issues.

I'll wonder if this is the Valhalla??

Yeah that's what I saw on another website. I hope they do make one cause I'll get it. For now I'm going to try to see how much he'll sell me the MW2 console. The freezups are probably a networking thing, hopefully. How many consoles do you have along with the red Resident Evil?

Three right now.

I couldn't justify the Final Fantasy Limited Edition since they didn't even bother to customize the case in the least. I probably would have if it had been a kick ass console and then sold my plain ol 60GB.

I moved the MW2 360 to a hard wire and so far no issues. *knock on wood*

The integrated CPU & GPU was on Microsoft's timeline some time ago and it was the next upgrade they had scheduled.

I wouldn't be surprised if that were the real deal... except when did Microsoft start putting cooler master fans in their stuff?

I think it's a PC.

I read on a couple online sites that most believe that is a PC board and not an Xbox360. Speaking only for myself, I wouldn't know if its fake or not but a new design makes sense, especially since I'm sure you will see a special bundle that includes Natal.

Hmm, I think I'll wait a bit. Just have a feeling they are going to do it especially with the Natal stuff they are harping about.

If he sells me the MW2 model for like 100 bucks I'll gladly take it. Either way, I'll end up having two machines. Great for local gaming. :D

I think it is possible the picture is the real deal. It wouldn't surprise me that when making test boards they would use commonly available parts like the cooler master fan. Hell, the original dev system was a Mac G5. When they are ready to mass produce the hardware they will use the final parts and the HSF would likely be one produced specifically for the 360. Bringing out a 360 with a new smaller form factor and look has the potential to move the 360 beyond the stigma of hardware failure in the eyes of consumers. Consumers may see a separation between the original 360 and a smaller 360. Also, reducing a consoles size has proven successful for Sega with the Genesis and Sony 3 times with the Playstation brand. MS really can't go wrong pursuing a model that has proven so successful.

Well, if it's the new 360 then it's a version they are testing for cooling requirements.

If it's a PC then someone's been using Photoshop.

Whoever said there was no hard drive interface is blind. There are 2 SATA connectors near the upper left corner of the board in that photo.

If it's a 360, they might be significantly changing connector layouts on the front and back. The case design will probably change as well.
