Underball #1 Posted March 18, 2010 Since your port of the BBC Micro version of a certain game it going so well, does this mean other Beeb games can be ported fairly easily? Like maybe: Defender? Zaxxon? Knightlore? or even possibly "Killer Gorilla"? (Donkey Kong clone with all 4 arcade screens)
+GroovyBee #2 Posted March 18, 2010 Since your port of the BBC Micro version of a certain game it going so well, does this mean other Beeb games can be ported fairly easily? It depends how you define "fairly easily" . Like maybe: Defender? Zaxxon? Knightlore? None of those are on my conversion list . At the end of the day it depends on the availability of carts with extra RAM in. For MODE 2 games on the beeb (8 colours and 8 flashing combinations) which sort of match MARIA 160B (13 colours) you need 16K RAM in the cart for the video buffer. For the 4 colour Beeb games only 8K is needed.
Underball #3 Posted March 18, 2010 So what is on your conversion list?
+GroovyBee #4 Posted March 18, 2010 So what is on your conversion list? I'm going to keep that a secret for now . The last thing I want is an argument over what should have been converted first. With hindsight I think the Tempest conversion has been released prematurely. I just wanted to show it off . Anything else that gets adapted/converted will be in a much more playable state. DracIsBack #5 Posted March 18, 2010 I'm going to keep that a secret for now . The last thing I want is an argument over what should have been converted first. This should be fairly straightforward: Your halloween game, then your RGB, then Apple Snaffle, then everything else.
+GroovyBee #6 Posted March 18, 2010 This should be fairly straightforward: Your halloween game, then your RGB, then Apple Snaffle, then everything else. My roots are most firmly planted in developing my own games don't worry.

roland p #9 Posted March 23, 2010 It would be cool to see a port of NES' Super Mario.
+GroovyBee #10 Posted March 23, 2010 It would be cool to see a port of NES' Super Mario. I didn't think that came out on the Beeb . Its not a port or homebrew I'm particularly interested in doing either. I've never owned a Nintendo console so I don't have any nostalgia for the game. I've never owned a Nintendo console so I don't have any nostalgia for the game. That's okay though, while a platform/adventure would be cool, Super Mario Bros. would never feel right on the 7800. DracIsBack #12 Posted March 23, 2010 That's okay though, while a platform/adventure would be cool, Super Mario Bros. would never feel right on the 7800. EVER!! There's still something cool about seeing a game that's not supposed to be on a system appear on it. I remember someone (Taquart?) did a demo on the 7800 where Yoshi ran around the screen. I've never owned a Nintendo console so I don't have any nostalgia for the game. I don't know why its a shock. I'm from the UK so I was quite happy with my Speccy and ST. The NES wasn't even a contender due to the fact it wasn't programmable.

Head over to http://www.stairwaytohell.com for more games. I've been using the BeebEm emulator which is available from here to play them on.
