520STE RAM problem

Picked up a 520STE for £10 off ebay. Looks to be in very nice condition but only shows 260K RAM when I load TOS 2.06 from disc.

I opened it up (really clean inside) and re-seated the RAM boards, same problem.

Used a known good set of RAM boards from a 1040STE and only get 760K RAM showing.

Any ideas where I should look next/what should I do?

Have you tried checking the amount of available RAM when the machine is running its own TOS from ROM?

Just ran the sysinfo program, it reports 768K. Program wont load when in 260K mode

Emphasize added by me .. ofcourse loading TOS from disk chops away another 256K from whatever amount of RAM is installed. Use the builtin TOS if you need that RAM or alternativly as it is an STE upgrade the ROMs so you can run 2.06 from ROM.
