Coleco ADAM S-Video?

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to get S-Video out of an ADAM? If not, can it be modded for S-Video like the Colecovision?

I've been looking on the net and I've found nothing about this. I'm starting to guess that no it's not.

Can you just use a standard 5 PIN DIN cable? I'm not 100% about that, I'll have to check.

I think Doubledown would be the guy to ask, as I think he actually sold a couple of Adam Monitor cables a while back. But for some reason, with nothing to back it up, I'm still thinking it's possible to do. :)

DoubleDown hasn't been on in awhile, I don't know what's up with that. :(

Anyone try a simple 5 Pin DIN s-video cable and see if it works? I'd try it myself but I don't have one.

I have played around a bit but just wound up using a 5-pin din cable for sound only and the separate rca monitor jack for video on a Commodore 1702.

Ok, all I was saying is that you dont get s-video out of the DIN plug. One guy did an attempt at the mod on a CV, and basically an ADAM is a CV+, this one sounds incomplete/not 100%.

As already stated, Doubledown would know but he's MIA.

Another HW guru is 5-11under, he'll likely contribute when he sees the thread.

Ahh ok. Good to know. I guess I'm stuck with composite then unless someone decides to start modding ADAMs (not bloody likely).

I wonder if there's at least a way to 'tweak' the composite then? It's not bad, but it's not great either.
