+SpiceWare #3 Posted April 1, 2010 I bet it goes well with their Tribbles 'n' Bits cereal! Seriously though, it would be awesome of somebody did come out with something like that.
the.golden.ax #4 Posted April 1, 2010 For $149 if it isn't a "fools" joke, that is quite a value. AX
+save2600 #5 Posted April 1, 2010 Availability '80's... lol I clicked on the "add to cart" button and sure enough - it's a joke Great concept though!! Loved the Dharma Initiative clock too!
jbanes #6 Posted April 1, 2010 FWIW, ThinkGeek has actually turned April Fools products into real products in the past. It's all about customer demand. If everyone uses that form on the "purchase" page to tell ThinkGeek they want one, ThinkGeek might actually start making these cabinets.
the.golden.ax #7 Posted April 1, 2010 It's a great idea... I'm tempted to make my own with a tc1100... way cheaper! AX

Tom-Lynx #9 Posted April 1, 2010 I was thinking the same thing....I recognized it for the April Fools joke it was, but thought to myself that it wasn't a bad idea. I also saw the Dharma Initiative clock and as a huge fan of LOST, I would have ordered one on the spot if it existed.
jbanes #10 Posted April 1, 2010 It's a great idea... I'm tempted to make my own with a tc1100... way cheaper! Just wait until the second generation of iPads is released in 6 months. After that, you'll be able to get the first gen for a song and a dime. As a bonus, older generations tend to be easier to jailbreak. So you'll be more able to run something like MAME on it. ianoid #11 Posted April 2, 2010 I've been waiting for stick attachments for iphone or a controller for ipad, and some kind of mapping controls to the screen standard. Like a little thing you can pop onto the iphone on both ends for twin sticks and buttons. That arcade is awesome. Get you one!
+SpiceWare #12 Posted April 2, 2010 There is one coming, the iControlPad, but it requires a a jailbroken iPhone/Touch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSPUP59Qnvc
Albert #13 Posted April 2, 2010 The 'iCade' really is a great idea. I wonder how many people clicked on the "Buy Now" button. ThinkGeek certainly knows and it seems like something that could easily be turned into a real product. Plus, it can charge your iPad at the same time. The Dharma Initiative Clock is also pretty amusing and they'd sell tons of those if they turned that into reality. Having to type that sequence of numbers in order to turn off your alarm clock would really make sure you were awake! ..Al
mckafka99 #14 Posted April 2, 2010 Funny to see a mention of a tc1100 - thats my primary 'couch' tablet that I have been using for years and do the majority of my emulation on. Great machine!

Would be great for a project like this since they run Mame, no wonky cracks needed... plus they run $200 MAX for a nice unit. AX

+FujiSkunk #18 Posted April 2, 2010 I think the iCade needs a slight redesign. As is, the bottom part of the screen is partially blocked by the controls. Otherwise this would be a great little toy.
jbanes #19 Posted April 3, 2010 I think the iCade needs a slight redesign. As is, the bottom part of the screen is partially blocked by the controls. Otherwise this would be a great little toy. I don't think it's as big of a problem as it seems at first blush. The viewer is generally going to be looking at the screen from an angle. (Above looking down.) That angle appears to mostly clear the area blocked by the joystick. So it should be kosher should ThinkGeek decide to manufacture these items. FWIW, I can't help but think that they went to a surprising amount of effort to create this. Perhaps they are using April Fools to test the market a bit?
