homerwannabee #26 Posted April 6, 2010 Getting better! Better watch out, Homer, next thing you know the student will become the master That would be cool, than we could have an old style Galaxian shoot out at CGE.

To be honest in reality my score is really not reflective any great accomplishment. It is more reflective that my life is so pathetic that I dedicated my time, and energy on a game in order to keep my focus away from the fact that I am a complete loser. That is why during the summer I plan on going after some other video game record. This is my way of mentally escaping.

Cebus Capucinis #33 Posted April 7, 2010 I don't necessarily think it means your life is pathetic, Homer! It means that you are capable of being dedicated to something. Even if it is just a video game, it's still something! There are tons of people who do nothing more than work/eat/sleep and that's it, they don't have hobbies or interests or anything, just living each day like a zombie with nothing. Maybe you just need to change something up and do something really crazy? Just get out there and do something completely different that would be totally out of character. Get a COLECOVISION high score! Maybe do some volunteer work or something if you don't already (I think I recall you saying you did already) or go hang gliding or scuba diving or jump out of an airplane or something! I find when I'm feeling down it's always good to do something like that to shake up the routine. No matter what, you always know that you have good friends in the AA community to lean on if you're feeling down! I'm always willing to turn an ear towards anyone who needs to talk, so feel free if you ever feel like it.

Hate to break it to you there Mr.Galaxian (I promised not to make the mistake again ) but uh several of us here at AA are losers. In fact some people like Cebus and myself don't do anything but sit on AA all day (when we aren't go0gling dirty words and spending money we don't have). At least you play your games AX

tetrode kink #38 Posted April 7, 2010 ...Especially in a humid country style wood panneled basement with a big-ass puke green microwave oven and harvest gold refrigerator and old console tv that weighs like 500 pounds... Eh, as long as you got the "harvest gold" right, that 'puke-green' you speak of is better known as "avocado" in '70s appliance color-speak. For my 2¢, I always thought "avocado" was more like "pea-soup green" and it was harvest gold that more resembled puke. -tet Keatah and TK... You forgot to include the big TV must be tube type... Damn thing kept the whole room/house warm! You know, there's nothing like curling up behind a roaring all-tube TV with the back off. Mmm, cozy! Actually, you have no idea how close that is to one of my childhood pastimes. Alas, it's a discussion for another time, lest this thread go any further off the rails... On-topic, feel better homer, you're among friends. I, as one loser, am a tremendous admirer of your Galaxian accomplishment. Don't let anyone bum you out about your classic gaming hobby. Mr. Monkey-Man said it: You do have an interest, and have excelled in at least one small part of it, which is more than many can say of themselves. Personally, I aspire to your level of loserdom. Wait, that was supposed to sound encouraging... -tet
Trinity #39 Posted April 7, 2010 "You know, there's nothing like curling up behind a roaring all-tube TV with the back off. Mmm, cozy!" Yeah, That's what I'm talking about! And the smell of the dust burning on the tops of all the red hot tubes... MMMmmmmmm, Those were the days. "Actually, you have no idea how close that is to one of my childhood pastimes. Alas, it's a discussion for another time, lest this thread go any further off the rails..." Oh, feel free to talk about it, I really love Atari/80's nostalgia! Back to galaxian, I really like the 2600 version. At least I can play for about five or ten minutes before getting wiped out... Back in the day I would walk over to the bowling ally to play the coin-op,,, I was always dead in a minute... The coin-op is way harder for me.:/lol
DickNixonArisen #40 Posted April 7, 2010 I actually prefer galaga, but galaxian is pretty sweet... anyone play retro gaming challenge for the DS? there's a really fun galaxian knockoff in it. Good game overall too btw.
