Are any of the carts worth picking up?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me if any are worth picking up. The eight that I took pictures of the main label are ones I was thinking of. The prices are hard to read, mainly $3 to $7. The Pole Position is a "POLE POSITN*" one, and the "Pigs in Space" is $12.

There is maybe 15 or so I don't have, but many are common and I don't think $3 is worth it, I'd rather get them in a lot or find in the wild.

I am a camera buff, and I am embarrassed by the crappy cell phone pictures...

Pole Position, Encounter at L5 and Star Trek are worth picking up from a gamers standpoint. Secret Quest too if it's not too expensive. Taz is kinda cool, but repetitive, so I'd probably pass on that. Secret Quest can still be had CIB I thought for cheap...

Turmoil, Trick Shot, Wizard of Wor, Supra Cobra, Tac-Scan, Dodge 'Em & Star Wars... I'd pick all those up if they're reasonable and you don't already have 'em.

Thanks for the quick reply! I have Turmoil, Trick Shot,Wizard of Wor,Tac-Scan,Dodge 'Em & Star Wars already, not Super Cobra or I didn't see "Encounter at L5" Is it in one of my pictures? That is Warplock on the counter.

Seacret Quest was $5, you can kinda see the tags on the 4 in the second picture. I almost grabbed Pigs in Space, but $12 seemed high, but there is one on eBay now for like $15 shipped ending soon.

And I thought the Star Trek one was worth a bit, and mine is beat looking, so I might get it anyway for $4.

I need to post my R1-R3 list and see if anyone wants to fill it up. I will probably pay $1 for anything I don't have, period, and $2 if it has instructions, then go up from there.

Oh... Warplock. Yeah, that one is to be avoided. lol Pigs in Space might be "collectible" and worth that much, but there's not much of a game there. Especially if you already have Space Invaders ;)

And yes, by all means, snag up H.E.R.O. I didn't see that hiding in there at first. Great game!

These are the ones I don't have at all. So if anyone can say, "Get them just to get them" Or if any of the others are worth getting for sale or trade bait since I already have them.

Thanks, good advice. I have Pigs in Space, and I don't think that one looked any better. I guess since I have the Harmony cart I already have all of them to play :P , but I prefer to play only ones I actually have.

Dark Chambers

Oink! (maybe - kinda cool for a little while)

Pole Positin* (I don't have that label) go for it if you're into alternate labels - personally, I don't see the point.

Private Eye - this might be worth picking up. Different and colorful, that's for sure.

River Raid (Is blue worth picking up?) not unless you like having dupes in your collection. I remember when these came out in the late 80's. I thought they were cheesy.

Secret Quest

Star Master - this game rocks

Star Trek: Strategic Operations Simulator

Super Cobra

Nothing truly amazing there but it's a pretty good collection for a store to have randomly... i'd be excited to see it all even though i'm not missing any of those... what is the place?

Of the ones that you listed that you don't have, River Raid and Star Master are both great fun to play. You can read the manual for Star Master here at Atari Age (it's a bit confusing at first, but then a lot of fun).

If you are looking to sell or trade, H.E.R.O. is not only great to play, but usually has high value. I've seen it go for $15 or higher on ebay. Secret Quest tends to fetch high prices as well because it is rare (but nowhere near as fun as H.E.R.O.).

I think I might just pick up these...

Private Eye $6

Solar Storm if it is under $5

Star Trek: Strategic Operations Simulator $4

I've had Private Eye since I was a kid. It's a cute game. Definitely unique. I never was good enough to earn the Activision patch, though :(

I don't have Taz, but it sounds like a cool game. I like the label, anyway.

I can't believe you don't have River Raid and Starmaster. Both are top 10 games for me.

Also, pick up Secret Quest either here or on eBay (yes, they are cheap CIB right now). Pretty clever and challenging late release game.

I always like Star Trek--played a lot of the arcade version back in the day, and the 2600 version is fun.

Fishing Derby is a must have if you do a lot of 2-player (Frogs and Flies as well if u can find it--just make sure to set the difficulty switches to Advance).

Demon Attack is always fun if u can find it super cheap--there are a lot of copies floating around.

Frogger is surprisingly good for such an old school game. Its very polished and the default mode let's the screen wrap so while it is not as hard as the arcade version, it is kess punishing and more fun.

Wizard of Wor--a must buy.

Secret Quest is interesting from a collecting stand point as it is Atari's attempt to compete with Zelda.

Watch those Activision carts--they are wonky and may or may not play well.

I went back there and secret quest was missing, bummer, since I got the instructions last week!

I picked these that I didn;t already have up. A couple others I didn't have I skipped on price. I probably overpaid on a couple of these, but at least I didn't have to pay shipping!

$6 - Private Eye

$3 - RealSports Boxing

$4 - Solar Storm

$4 - Kung Fu Master (I have the manual for this one already)

$3 - Basic Programming

$4 - Flag Capture

$3 - Oink!

$3 - Dodger Cars

$3 - Realsports Soccer (I have the manual for this one already)

The place is called Cash-In Culture and I guess they are a chain that determines the prices. I wanted a couple others, but there were about double my estimated value. I got the ones I thought were close enough since I have been in a couple times starting at them.
