SpendTooMuchOnAtari #1 Posted April 9, 2010 I am looking to get a FC Twin system that plays NES and SNES games. I have never had one and am wondering where is the best place to get one and is a certain one better than another? I see many on ebay and on Amazon but don't know which one to get. Does anyone have one and do they work well? I was thinking of getting this one, it's only $35 shipped: FC Twin at Amazon Thanks for any help!
+wood_jl #2 Posted April 10, 2010 I can't help, sorry - but I am curious about this as well. There were some different versions/revisions of the "Twin" I think I remember reading about but don't remember. I should think the one that does NES/SNES/Genesis would be the one to get, but perhaps someone can tell us why it would NOT be? Controllers, maybe? It's nice that this one (TWIN) uses standard SNES controllers. Too bad they can't make one that uses the NES lightgun, or an adapter for it. I am wondering what controllers the "Triple" model takes. But $35 **SHIPPED** is a great price! Edit: As far as the "Triple" models, there are 2 on Amazon. This one get CRAPPY reviews: (FC3) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001LVH80M?ie=UTF8&tag=atariage&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B001LVH80M and this one gets better reviews (but only has 4): (FC3 plus, presumably newer) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001LN9DZ8?ie=UTF8&tag=atariage&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B001LN9DZ8
Austin #3 Posted April 10, 2010 Any FC Twin should do the trick. It's not perfect, but it's solid for what it does. You can also use SNES controllers on it as well. Avoid the 3-in-1 that has Genesis support. You are only able to use the stock controllers, and the compatibility, sound quality, and picture quality isn't very good. This one really is the poor-man's system.

And the link I have above (for FC3plus) is (I think) just the same thing in 2 different colors.
Austin #5 Posted April 10, 2010 Yep, proprietary. Yuck, indeed.
SpendTooMuchOnAtari #6 Posted April 10, 2010 I was thinking of getting this one, it's only $35 shipped: FC Twin at Amazon Does this one look good from Amazon at the $35 shipped? A few compaints consists that the controllers that come with this aren't the best but this problem for me as I just picked up 3 Super Nintendo brand controllers at a sale today for next to nothing so I'm not worried about that. Thanks again for any help! Thanks again!
NinjaWarrior #7 Posted April 11, 2010 Just get a Retro Duo....Castlevania 3 works on it
Austin #8 Posted April 11, 2010 (edited) I have posted this tip before, but on my YouTube profile I have video overviews of both the Retro Duo and the FC Twin (and FC3 plus if you're curious). I would personally choose the FC Twin over the Retro Duo or FC3 Plus for a variety of reasons. Click the link in my sig if interested.
