JacobZu7zu7 #1 Posted April 14, 2010 Congo Bongo by SEGA... tried to play this before the Atari 2600 HSC game changes...at 1AM tonight. Well, damn game didn't even fit in the console... I turned power on... black screen,, i push a little harder twice... then gave up... pulled the thing out, and now the bottom left corner of the game is broke off, and STUCK against the left side of the cartridge slot. I already broke two small screwdrivers trying to free the chunk of plastic out... Obviously it cannot be used unless the plastic is removed from the slot. Though I am doubting it even can... any tips or help?? Thats what you get for using a SEGA game in an ATARI machine... it got jealous...''
ls650 #2 Posted April 14, 2010 I am trying to visualize what's wrong... Can you post a photo?
DickNixonArisen #3 Posted April 14, 2010 Needlenose maybe, but probably better off taking it apart first. Probably not a big deal. i suck at congo bongo but I appreciate their attempt to make it look like it had 3-d depth.
Lendorien #4 Posted April 14, 2010 Meep. A long nosed, needle nose pliers seems to me to be a good option. Sheesh. I hope you can get it out. I used my harmony cart but I stunk so bad I didn't bother taking screenshots.
A.J. Franzman #5 Posted April 14, 2010 What kind of console? It's fairly common for six-switchers to have the mainboard assembled into the shielding with poor alignment, which can lead to difficulty inserting and removing certain cartridges. If it is a sixer, disassembly may give you a little bit better access to the port for removal of that bit of plastic.

I so far only got a tiny TINY piece of broken congo-bongo cart plastic out ... its all still stuck in there and barley can shift it, let alone get it out. . do needlenose pliers fit into the opening?? maybe i can fit my finger in there.. with a towel or rag for better traction... and figet the broken pieces free. I think it all happened from me moving the cart left or right as i pulled or pushed on the game. Afterwards, I feel embarressed or stupid.. Plus that Sega game is way too PHAT or big to fit in any Atari. here's a pic of the game, it already had a small crack on the right side... probably from others trying to remove it, also the game has scrapes at the bottom from scraping as it's removed from other Ataris over the years. shadow460 #7 Posted April 14, 2010 I'd disassemble the console myself. As was stated, extracting the broken piece would be easy then. It doesn't take long to open up the unit and then close it back up when you're done.
Video #8 Posted April 15, 2010 If you don't mind opening you're system, just take the screws out, and remove the board, that should work. The central plastic piece of the cart port is attached to the board, and the outer part is attached to the housing, so the broken piece should just fall out as soon as you take the mobo screws out.
