Improving the ADAM Composite Out

I've noticed that the quality of the composite out on my ADAM isn't very good. Miles better than RF, but still crappy. White letters have a slight ghosting problem and everything doesn't seem as crisp as it should be. Is there a way to adjust this or would it take a complete redesign? It's not the cable or TV as my other systems look just fine.

My understanding was that it's the nature of the video decoder in the system. I guess this brings to question how easy it would be to build a new circuit and bypass the original chip. I won't have access to my Adam until I move back home next year, so maybe someone else here could take a peak inside to see just how much of a pain this would be.
