The Adam SD Drive....

else

Recommended Posts

Last I'd heard here in the forums, i thought ColecoNut still had the prototype. I know Coleconut has been in and out of here, but has anyone talked to him to see if he still has the proto, or Dave are you by chance reading this?

Maybe I was reading too much into it, but Else seemed pretty frustrated in his last postings about it...

I've talked with Coleconut some months ago, and trust me, he had a good excuse for all this

Coleconut is a great guy and he won't have let Else waited without any good reason

I just cross my fingers that this device will get release someday since it's the main reason why I wanted an ADAM

This subject came up on the weekly ADAMcon chat the other day and Bob S. stated that the prototype finally did get returned to "Else" and that the last he heard, parts for producing the SD Drive may have already been ordered, but beyond that no one knows.

BTW, the chats are held every Wednesday at 9:00pm Eastern time and usually have a pretty nice turn out including Daniel Bienvenu, Luc Miron and some other familiar names:

Please count me in for 1 or 2 as well. Thanks.

I am for that too Paul. [bob S.] Hopefully, Derek is feverishly working on the little box so that we can ALL have one or two. We played with it some before convention and then at convention; and it is an awesome piece of hardware. We had a few ideas to upgrade it (tweak) and passed them onto Derek, maybe that is what he is emplementing. Don't know, just hope he releases the little black box for sale. HAPPY NEW YEAR

I agree, I've dealt with Coleconut myself in the past, and have nothing but good things to say about him as a person, and his love of the Coleco video stuff. I didn't mean to imply shenanigans-- was just trying to put some pieces together. Happy New Year!

Thanks to you and the others for the supporting comments. For the record the prototype was returned to else last summer.

I believe Dale W said he's working on a USB type drive, or at-least the software to drive it.

Mentioned in the CV/ADAM Mailing list.

This is what Dale Wick posted concerning some possible projects... most likely long-range at best.

Possible methods that I'd like to work on in the vague future some time:

1. make an AdamNET <-> usb adaptor for serial over AdamNET

2. make a USB adaptor for reading disks from an AdamNET disk drive

3. make a AdamNET adaptor for supporting USB 3.5" floppy drives on the the Adam

4. make an AdamNET adaptor for supporting disk images stored on a SD card on the Adam

5. make a PC adaptor for accessing an AdamNET tape drive directly
