Goochman #26 Posted May 6, 2010 I downloaded the latest version of Altirra and OMFG it is AWESOME :o It sure is! And it's written by a friendly and extremely talented guy rather than a giant asshole like Xformer. I second the comment from Mr. Remowilliams

Altirra is newer, and actively being developed most importantly. It also has a fantastic debugger, better display routines (courtesy of some Virtual Dub code), support for VBXE. I had used Atari800Win for years, but now I have zero reason to use it.

I second the comment from Mr. Remowilliams I have my best friend Chris hooked on Alttira and I downloaded a copy for him and we have been playing tons of Atari games for the last 3 hours. +bf2k+ #33 Posted May 18, 2010 I've never used Altira, I use atari winplus 800... Is there any benefit to switching to Altira? that those of you that have used both can tell me? Altirra is newer, and actively being developed most importantly. It also has a fantastic debugger, better display routines (courtesy of some Virtual Dub code), support for VBXE. I had used Atari800Win for years, but now I have zero reason to use it. I messed with Altirra when it first came out but found it lacking somewhat for my needs. Maybe it has been improved since then. Some Altirra questions? Does Altirra support the R: device yet? Does it support the R: device through winsock? Can you attach 8 (Dx:) drives to it? Does it support the H: device like A800winplus (or have some equivalent way to access PC folders)? EDIT: oops... I probably should have posted this in another thread. EDIT2: I answered my own question - downloaded 1.6 and tried it - still no R: support that I could find but the rest looks real nice... much more stable than earlier versions I tried.
