How hard is it to get a used C64 DTV?

Just wondering in general. A friend of mine wants one, and I did a quick check on amazon: used from $95, then a quote for $1000. Jeesh! I'm not looking to flip one or give mine to her, but surely there are ones out there in the wild that can be had for cheap, no? So far nothing in the thrifts, but only PSXes exist in the thrifts around here.

About all I can say is keep plugging at the thrifts, and also keep an eye on the various auction sites and gaming forum marketplace threads. I managed to score one for $3 a couple of years ago, so it is possible.
