pseverini #1 Posted May 7, 2010 All, Does anyone have any experience with repairing an Atari 810 Disk Drive that does not seek upon start up? The drive actually powers on, but none of the drive mechanics seem to be moving. The busy light never lights up. I'm also looking for a copy of the 810 Field Service Manual. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Rybags #3 Posted May 7, 2010 Field Service Manual is here http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/127483-atari-os-and-hardware-manuals-get-them-here/page__view__findpost__p__1551294 You have to rename the files as described because at that time we had smaller upload size and filetype limitations. Just pulling the thing apart then jacking up slightly then reseating the ICs might fix it... then again maybe not - the drive I have does nothing and doing that didn't help. pseverini #4 Posted May 8, 2010 Thanks, will try. This is my first 810 so I'm a little green. I pulled the plugs from the bottom off the drive. What type of tool is needed to get the case off?

labrat #7 Posted May 8, 2010 Thanks, will try. This is my first 810 so I'm a little green. I pulled the plugs from the bottom off the drive. What type of tool is needed to get the case off? Just a phillips head screwdriver, but via the holes on the top of the case.

pseverini #9 Posted May 9, 2010 Ah yes, thanks. Seems like they should have used the holes on the bottom in place of the plastic tabs on the top.
pseverini #10 Posted May 9, 2010 Does anyone know where I can find information on the 810 test points located on the boards to do diagnostic testing? I see tons of numbered test points on the 3 cards (TP1-TPx). Does anyone know what the TP points represent? Thanks.
