Super Cobra Questions

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what determines the length of each level on Super Cobra? Most seem to last a few minutes, but I swear I played level 2 for like 5 mins. tonight. It never seemed like it was going to end. Most levels feature two caverns and some open areas, maybe 3, but level 2 for me tonight had at least 5 caverns. I've never seen that it a long time playing this game.

Also, if you crash, your game resumes outside a cavern at what I have always assumed is a mid-way point, however the landscape is never the same as the landscape you crashed into. It is always dramatically different and it seems as though the level ends pretty quickly after you respawn.

Any thoughts on how the game determines these things?

I don't have a direct answer to your question, but last summer I got the cart in an auction, and yes - some levels are definitely longer than others, and I do remember that one seemed to be like twice as long as the others. I also recall that the levels (at least some) aren't always the same. The placement of enemies seems to be at least partially random.

This was the cart that a flea-market vendor had set up for Years to display the 2600 he had 100 bucks on (mid-90's) around my area and from playing it there, I can say it seemed to be a pretty random thing. I have never played my own copy but always thought it was a really neat game and has more nostalgic value for me than most atari titles..
