Interest Check: Sample run 2600 adapter for 5200

Recommended Posts

I found this while at the flea market today, and I noticed that it wasn't like other 2600 adapters in that it had no markings and a smooth case. I thought this was a prototype of some sort, and according to Curt, it turns out that this is actually a sample version of the CX55, which Atari used before it was mass produced. It's in fairly good condition, with some wear and tear here and there, but nothing is physically broken. I tested this on a 2-port 5200 and everything works fine.

I don't have a price in mind for this, so I'm open to any offers. However, I would prefer a regular CX55 as part of the deal, since I was looking for a 2600 adapter to play with. I would normally hold onto this, but I don't really fancy the idea of using a rare piece of Atari history like this as part of my setup.

EDIT: Just found out I can't use a CX55 on my S-video modded 5200 so scratch the part about me wanting a regular CX55.

That's pretty cool, could you post some pics of the inside?

I wish I could, but I can't seem to get it open even with all the screws removed.
