Alcohol the best thing to use on the pins?

 

Just got a bunch of carts in that look like they were buried for 10 years.

Isopropyl alcohol and q-tips are what I use to clean them.

AKA VCR Head Cleaner fluid.

 

Aerosol electrical contact cleaner also does the job, but it's a bit pricey. I find that it is also good for doing the hard to reach contacts on motherboard connectors.

Yes, use a pencil eraser for the really stubborn ones that you think are dead!

I also use a rubber to clean the contacts.

When you use something like "Kontakt 60" don´t forget to remove the cleaning fluid with "WL-Spray" because "Kontakt 60" is good in cleaning, but when it remains on the pcb or contacts in a switch it can damage it. After cleaning with 61 & WL protect the contacts with "Kontakt 61".

windex would probly be a very bad idea way to much water and if you use rubbing alcohol use the 91% Isopropyl Alcohol instead of the only 50% rubbing alcohol
