Parrothead #1 Posted May 19, 2010 (edited) Forget the Wavebird. I just discovered this controller at the swap meets last week - $5 only This thing is awesome and was like new. Just hooked it up and it is a truely great wireless controller for the SNES. And nothing looks cooler than a satellite dish sitting near your TV Couldn't find much info about this on line and no sales history on Ebay or anywhere else. Anyone have one of these? DickNixonArisen #2 Posted May 20, 2010 Wow. The dish is monstrous... but the actual pad looks kinda cute. Never been a fan of wireless controllers, but I like that it's made by Konami and not some no-name hardware maker.
STICH666 #3 Posted May 20, 2010 Wow that thing looks pretty cool. I would have a perfect place for it too.
Video #4 Posted May 23, 2010 I love the design, unfortunately, it is an IR controller, and will suffer some lag as a result (not to mention not working when not in eyeshot of the receiver) Still looks cool though.
Guest BAD PIXEL #5 Posted July 6, 2010 I love the design, unfortunately, it is an IR controller, and will suffer some lag as a result (not to mention not working when not in eyeshot of the receiver) Still looks cool though. Seriously, I think the problems of IR get way overblown... Does anyone really play their games from more than 30 feet away, around the corner or behind someone? As long as you have a clear line of sight and don't have a microwave or wireless router next to your IR receiver, there is zero lag. I've used several quality IR devices (like the NES Satellite from Nintendo) and haven't had any problems. Like the original poster said, it's a "truely great wireless controller." I am curious though, to use two controllers, do you need two dish receivers?
Video #6 Posted July 6, 2010 Try Playing a fast action game if you think there is no lag I even notice the lag on a game like Super Mario World (which is very forgiving, and still quiet playable) and there are plenty of games out there that are barely playable with a wired controller, much less a wireless one. As for distance or around corners, yeah, I know nobody does, but as many people live in active households, there's always people and pets moving about that can get in the way of an IR receiver. Of course, if you're a loner, then it probably isn't a problem. And with IR, Microwaves and wireless routers won't affect you, as it's using light rather than radio to transfer info. I am curious though, to use two controllers, do you need two dish receivers? Most of these devices I've ever seen, use a single receiver, I don['t know about this particular one, but most I've seen have to plugs coming out to hook into your system. But you haven't actually used these controllers, right? The original poster seems very happy with them. If you've never used them personally, how can you crap on them? I have played on an NES Satellite IR system for, I dunno, about 20 years (even playing "fast" games) and I've just never noticed lag with these IR controllers unless there's some type of direct interference. Maybe it's been because just as the controlers are about to lag, the NES slowdown kicks in? I only ask about the one dish per controller because I've only seen these particular controllers packaged with the dish and because the dish plugs into only one controller port.
