Nesbroslash #1 Posted May 20, 2010 (edited) What is your favorite videogame track? Embed, attach, or post it here for others to enjoy. Here is one of my favorites. (Yes, I know it's from a McDonald's game, but it still kicks arse.)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDZYsS6Mrj8&feature=PlayList&p=FAF76557F3F2D666&playnext_from=PL&playnext=1&index=45 Edited May 20, 2010 by Nesbroslash
MagitekAngel #2 Posted May 20, 2010 I'm of the mind that out of the entire 8-bit era, the soundtrack to Super Mario Bros. 2 is the "catchiest."

doubleminor #6 Posted May 20, 2010 Mega Man 3 was the first game I thought of when reading the thread title. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUS_gytmTh0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khaQQxQOPbE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdbCKwU4QMI
Tr3vor #7 Posted May 20, 2010 ITS BLASTER MASTER! The Best 8-bit music EVER!!
DickNixonArisen #9 Posted May 20, 2010 Tommy Tallarico (the person who did the music for mick and mack) is Steven Tyler's cousin. I don't like aerosmith much, but I like it better than Mick and Mack. The pause screen beatz in Battletoads. Ninja Gaiden, Blaster Master, louie louie from california games on the 2600, mario 1,2 and 3, Contra, Double Dragon, RC pro-am intro music (it just plays once), and TONS of game boy games. Music on the game boy was awesome. I am currently enjoying Ninja Taro which has some nice tunes.
Ace_1 #10 Posted May 20, 2010 (edited) Thunder Force IV, plain and simple. I like intense, fast-paced music, and Thunder Force IV's got all that and more. My favorite tunes are these(recorded off original hardware, NOT an emulator): Battle Ship: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80gyutm4NIM Space Walk: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFTlJc7WPXQ Simmer Down: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eh2w2Jdziew My personal favorite, Metal Squad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bozH7pmOxiw And quite possibly my favorite Final Boss tune of all time, War Like Requiem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtikJ0KjQlo Edited May 20, 2010 by Ace_1
pinball22 #11 Posted May 20, 2010 Pitfall II. I've regularly found myself humming it mindlessly for the last 27 years, even at times when I haven't played the game in months. And a second for MULE.
Kris Snyder #12 Posted May 20, 2010 (edited) One thing I miss about classic games is how often (but not always) the best music was saved for the final level (typically the actual level itself, and not during the final boss battle). Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers, Strider (NES), Megaman 2 (first two stages of Wily's castle), Castlevania II: Simon's Quest - the list goes on and on... Some of my other favorites include: Double Dragon (start screen/main theme) Ducktales (The Moon) Megaman 2 (Bubbleman stage) Megaman X (Storm Eagle stage) Zelda: A Link to the Past (Hyrule Castle) Starfox (first stage) Etc. Plus the entirety of the soundtrack of my favorite console game, Super Castlevania IV - and the first stage song (entitled "Burning Road"), boss battle music and stage select tune from my all-time favorite arcade game, Night Striker. Tempest #13 Posted May 20, 2010 Pressure Cooker, Pitfall II, most of the Mega Man games (they all run together in my head), and Ultima V (Lord Blackthorne's tune is really catchy IMHO). Tempest
RJ #14 Posted May 20, 2010 gyromite. I've kept the game just for its music alone.
Nesbroslash #15 Posted May 20, 2010 (edited) Oh, another favorite of mine is the theme to Rollercoaster Tycoon. http://www.youtube.com/watch#!v=KT45kiI5FYw&feature=relatedAllister Brimble, the mastermind behind this joyous carnival song should definitely compose more videogame music. Some of my other favorites include:Double Dragon (start screen/main theme) Oh God, it's so hard to get that out of my head when it's embedded there! Kris Snyder #19 Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) Some of my other favorites include:Double Dragon (start screen/main theme) Oh God, it's so hard to get that out of my head when it's embedded there! The remixed version from Super Double Dragon IV is especially potent - I wish that it could be playing in the background whenever I needed it for the rest of my life, as my own personal theme song... makes me feel like I could overcome anything that the world could possibly throw at me! Lendorien #21 Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) Well, if we're going to do this, I have to include my favorite soundtrack ever. It's from the NES no less and the title is Shadowgate. I always felt that more than most other NES games, the music in Shadowgate enhanced the gameplay and entire mood of the game. That hint of an echo and the somwhat classical flair really set the mood. I've always thought that Shadowgate displayed a fantastic use of the Nintendo's capabilities for sound to the point that even now it still sounds really good, even on the original hardware. My favorite tracks below. I'm also fond of the grim reaper's theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94Tsezcm8yA - Entrance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KykP7uPv0Q&fmt=18&annotation_id=annotation_373991&feature=iv - Twilight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smbA5hH7RGs&fmt=18&annotation_id=annotation_62043&feature=iv - Subterranean cave. doubleminor #23 Posted May 22, 2010 (edited) This one's probably my guilty pleasure. My cousins had this game when it came out in the early 90's. It was probably the worst WWF game I've ever played, but we had a blast with it somehow (10 year olds can think of anything). When we got tired of the game and started play wrestling, we'd use the wrestler's themes as our own entrance. I was always a Bret Hart fan, but used Hogans' as it was the catchiest. It starts at 3:25. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXm68tmT7lY Edited May 22, 2010 by doubleminor
