Are small lines from my 2600 on the TV screen normal?

I have small horizontal lines that are either on the left or right side of the screen when I hook up my 2600. These are not very large and they can easily be looked past in order to play but I'm just wondering if this is normal or, if not, what could be wrong?

 

I have a four-switch Telegames system with the little cable ready adapter so it screws right in. Also, I don't have any problems with the TV when watching TV or playing any of my other systems.

Oh, it shouldn't be a problem. I have an old TV in my basement for our 2nd Wii and we have lines on the monitor, but it doesn't mess things up. Your TV is probably just getting old. Kind of like some of the members on this site.

I think the lines you describe are normal and show up on some games more than others.

Ah, that's not grumpy - just a little harmless self-entertainment..! The part about turning into old men might not be too far off though.

Why do game sprites flash on and off in most 2600 games, anyway? Is it to avoid potential sharpie markings on the television screen?

Ah, so THAT's why they're there. I thought it had something to do with emulation and whatsuch.

And wouldn't it mainly be on the left due to scanline "beams"?

Before I even sit down to play Atari, I round up a set of magic markers for when those pesky "sharpie" lines appear on the tele. Works great and when you go to switch back to television viewing, they wipe off easily enough with lighter fluid...

This is not correct, if I knew the answer, I certainly wouldn't have posted a thread about it. I haven't owned a 2600 in quite a while and never had a Telegames system so was wondering if the lines were worse with these systems. I really don't understand the problem but if you're post makes you feel better, so be it. I'm sorry again for my ignorant question as it seems.

I wish it would be closed, I made a mistake by not doing a search first and that's my fault. I never thought people would act like this over a mistake when I admit I was wrong. I have learned my lesson and will do an extensive search before posting anything again because I certainly don't want this to happen, it seems to get people all bent out of shape.

Holy cow, not another one of these things. Some of us weren't sure if you were joking or not, but the possible answer was in my post just in case those were the lines you were talking about. You don't have to commit suicide over it.

Yeah, my bad. I'm sorry about all that, I actually have changed meds, ironically enough and haven't been feeling well although won't be commiting suicide RT, LOL. Also have some family problems going on. AtariAge takes my mind off things but I let myself freak out and that wasn't cool.
