Thanks for the comments. I really had a hard time creating this one as it was my first release after 7 years of silence. Fortunately there was a fixed deadline so I HAD to finish it. I uploaded it to my site including the source for those who are interested and updated the Pouet entry including the

Really nice intro.. thanks for mentioning me in the greetings! ;) Thanks for sharing the source codes too.

 

Just one notice.. in the part where you describe that it runs in full 240 scanlines you have sentence "normally there can are only be 239 scanlines..." and IMHO there should not be that word are but I'm not native English speaker. And the other thing about this sentence, AFAIK you can easily have 240 scanlines screens on PAL Atari just the last 240th scanline MUST NOT be hi-res one otherwise it doesn't matter.

Actually you can do hires on the 240th scanline without getting the screen distorion.

 

The trick is that you need to change Antic screen DMA to Wide or Off at just the right time on that scanline.

 

Then you need to turn it back to normal again before the display starts.

I would be really interested in the reason why there is this distortion.

This is a mystery to me since almost 20 years :o
