Atari2600Lives #1 Posted May 25, 2010 Well I got my new FC twin from amazon today and it played the NES games great but the grpahic in the SNES games look a bit garbled. I tried many different SNES games including some that seemed to be cleared on the compatability list (such as Super mario 3). Is this a known issue or is this a defecitve unit? DickNixonArisen #2 Posted May 25, 2010 Not to be rude, but surely you know that SMB3 is not a SNES game? It might be helpful to list the titles that didn't work correctly. Also be sure that they're very clean.
Atari2600Lives #3 Posted May 25, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the response, I typed "3" instead of "World" for some reason. It was a typo on my part. SUPER MARIO WORLD Ok all SNES titles (over 20 tried) did not work correctly and of course I know about cleaning carts. I take it my FC is defective then. DickNixonArisen #4 Posted May 25, 2010 Any luck on a return policy?
Atari2600Lives #5 Posted May 25, 2010 Any luck on a return policy? I dont think it is worth the effort, only paid $20 for it and the NES slot works perfect.
Austin #6 Posted May 26, 2010 (edited) Hm, I've had multiple FC Twin systems and I haven't yet experienced any garbled or ugly/blurry visuals in either the NES or SNES side of things. The only clone hasn't been good on the visual end (from the ones I've owned anyway) has been the FC3+.. but who knows, maybe my FC3 is screwy like your Twin is.. MagitekAngel #7 Posted May 27, 2010 Sounds like it's just plain broken. I've never heard of this issue before. I've had my FC Twin for two and a half years, works perfectly.
Tr3vor #8 Posted May 27, 2010 I've seen garbled stuff on one of those almost beyond imagination. My cousin bought one once to play the old NES games he had. One time, he was going to hook it up, and used the wrong AC adapter. He turned it on and smoke came out, it was toasted. Later he decided that he was going to plug it in right just to see what happened. Every sound was out of place and the picture was just garbled, rolling, and somewhat albino looking. Atari2600Lives #9 Posted May 27, 2010 (edited) I thought I had fixed it , used different AV wires and it started working. It worked for 10 minutes and played donkey kong country flawlessly then started up with garbled graphics again...oh well.. zylon #10 Posted May 28, 2010 The stock av cables have very poor insulation on them. I've always tossed 'em.
Atari2600Lives #11 Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) The stock av cables have very poor insulation on them. I've always tossed 'em. I think I have narrowed it down to a heat issue. The unit gets warmed up and then goes garbled in the 16 bit side. The first time I used it I played the heck of the 8 bit games and when I switched to 16 bit nothing worked at all (the unit was warmed up). I am seeing now that if I let it cool off it works and then about 10 minutes in it goes screwy. Edited May 28, 2010 by Atari2600Lives
