Emehr #4 Posted May 29, 2010 I wrote a utility that lets you drag and drop files into the window and it'll convert text files to CC2 and vice versa. But it's for Classic Mac OS 9. One of these days I'll port it to OS X.

Emehr #6 Posted May 29, 2010 Here it is. I just whipped up an icon for it. The CC2 Menu Buddy will convert .CC2 files into .TXT and vice versa. You can select multiple files and drop 'em on the icon or launch the program and drop 'em in the window. Mix and match text and compiled files and the Menu Buddy will take care of the rest. Some notes (copied and updated from original post): -This app is "dumb". It assumes it is working with either a compiled .CC2 menu file or a plain text file so please don't feed it anything else. I'll be happy to polish it up if there's enough interest. -Can handle multiple files via drag and drop only. If you use the 'Open' command you can only select one file. I can update the Open dialog to handle multiple selections but it's easier (IMO) to just drop a bunch of files on the icon or window. -May or may not leak memory. This hasn't been extensively tested. Use at your own risk but know that the author has confidently used it on both of his production Macs without fear of lost data. If in doubt, work with copies of your files until you're confident it'll work with your set-up with no issues. -Has been tested in Classic mode on Mac OS X 10.4.11 and works wonderfully. Put it in your dock! Here's the original post for reference. CC2MenuBuddy.sit.zip
RayXambeR #7 Posted May 25, 2013 Any news about the Mac OS X version of your software? I haven't any mac under OS 9. Thanks!
Bakasama #8 Posted May 26, 2013 Does this run in Classic Mode on a Mac OSX before Snow Leopard?
Emehr #9 Posted May 27, 2013 @RayXambeR: I have not worked on CC2 Menu Buddy in years and honestly I don't know if I'll have a chance to work on an OS X version in the near future. The program is a simple text parser and if I have a free weekend I should be able to get something out there but I can't promise anything soon. In the meantime, I will gladly make the source code available to anybody who wants to take a crack at it. @Baksama: Yes, CC2 Menu Buddy is an OS 9-native application that will run in Tiger and earlier versions of Mac OS X. I created it for personal use and decided to make it available for the nine people out there who have older Macs and a Cuttle Cart II.
Mot #10 Posted May 29, 2013 (edited) Any news about the Mac OS X version of your software? I haven't any mac under OS 9. Thanks! What are you wanting to do? This program will not build menu file(s) for you, it more enables you to work on the menu files by hand. There is a program for Winblows program that looks through your roms and generates one big cc2 menu file using a now very old CC2ROMDB.TXT ( db of ROM MD5 (hash numbers for ID) and the CC2 settings). This was written before the CC2 update for sub-menus. The CC2 menu files are fixed length text files without returns and so all the information is on one line but you can use a simple text editor to look at them. Here is two examples (with added returns): 7800: Centipede (Trackball hack) TBCENTTB HSC_16K HSC 7800: Crazy Otto (Ms.Pac Hack) CRZYOTTOHSC_16K HSC 7800: Impossible Mission (fixed) IMFIXED 78SC_R8K78BIOS 7800: JR PAC SnowDay newmazes (Hack) JRPACSD HSC_32K HSC 7800: JR PAC SnowDay newmazes hat (Hack)JRPACSDHHSC_32K HSC 7800: Star Wars (Xevious Hack) XEV78 HSC_32K HSC 7800: Xevious Insane (Hack) XEVI HSC_32K HSC Missile Command (Trackball hack) TBMISLCMDT4K 78BIOS Return to MAIN <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<MENU MENU 7800: Arkanoid (WIP) ARKANOID7800_32K78BIOS 7800: Asteroids Deluxe 2-BtnATDLX78OHSC_32K HSC 7800: Asteroids Deluxe 2-BtnASTDLX78HSC_32K HSC 7800: Beef Drop (WIP)(try HSC) BD7800O HSC_32K HSC 7800: Beef Drop (WIP)(uses Pokey) BD78POK 78HSCPOKHSCPOKQU 7800: Beef Drop (WIP)old BD78OLD 7800_32K78BIOS 7800: Beef Drop (demo) BDDEMO 78POKEY 78BIOS 7800: BentleyBear:CrystalQuest(WIP)2-BtnBENTLEY 78SC_BIG78BIOS 7800: BonQ (WIP) BONQ HSC_48K HSC 7800: Crazy Bricks (WIP)(Joy-left Pad-R)CRZYBRIXHSC_16K HSC 7800: FailSafe (WIP) FAILSAFE7800_48K78BIOS 7800: Frogger (demo) FROGER7878POKEY 78BIOS 7800: Frogger 07/15/05 (WIP)(uses Pokey)FROGR78778HSCPOKHSCPOKQU 7800: Frogger 12/18/05 (WIP)(uses Pokey)FROGR78 78HSCPOKHSCPOKQU 7800: Get Lost!
