S1500 #1 Posted May 29, 2010 Album info is here. I first discovered this band with their "Space Invaders" single, which must be one of 10 Space Invaders-themed songs released back in the day. Finally got the rest of the album. It's a strange mix of electro + Tangerine Dream. Vocoder usage & Space Invaders arcade samples are heavily used. About 70% of the album is loosely around video games. Strange album. Surely better than Buckner & Garcia.
Rybags #2 Posted May 29, 2010 That'd be about 30 years old now. Misex did a good one: "Computer Games", around 1979. Video clip has some good shots of old gear and the Vectorscope game "Speed Freak" in the background, as well as a few others including Atari's Basketball. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-m8IOD-wk9g
DickNixonArisen #3 Posted May 29, 2010 Wow, neat. Did Kraftwerk ever use game samples, I wonder? There's also me, I do songs about atari games. Got about forty.
high voltage #4 Posted May 29, 2010 Pretenders first album I think has Space Invaders noise as well.
S1500 #5 Posted May 29, 2010 Pretenders first album I think has Space Invaders noise as well. They do, right at the end. It's an instrumental track. The band Three O'Clock had a video called "Jet Fighter" featuring footage from the laserdisc game MACH 3. Sadly, not available on YouTube. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers had a lesser-known shoot-em up game(forgot the game) in "You Got Lucky".

Miss 2600 #7 Posted June 1, 2010 Here's a video featuring Pole Position: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_s-49rNCdw I LOVE Judas Priest!
DickNixonArisen #8 Posted June 1, 2010 Hah, look at those studded bracelets. I love priest too. Painkiller is probably my favorite. It's especially funny to see intolerant, macho meatheads jamming out to 'breakin the law' and 'we will rock you'. I'm like "You know those guys singing are gay, right?"
