Nesbroslash #1 Posted June 11, 2010 When I was reading the rare arcade game topic, I noticed Cedar Point pop up a few times. I know this is a late 20th century kind of park,(Blue Streak, Gemini, Magnum XL-200, Mean Streak, and a lot of others were built around the 60's, 70's and 90's, as well as a lot of popular coasters.)so are there any major gems like Red Baron, Battlezone, Asteroids Deluxe, or Gravitar? Albert #2 Posted June 11, 2010 I spent a lot of time at Cedar Point in 2007. I visited the main arcade a few times, but was generally disappointed. They did have many old games, but they were in various states of disrepair, and most of the pinball machines were in very poor condition. I certainly would never make a trip to the park solely to play classic arcade games. If you search Google for "cedar point arcade" you'll find various galleries. Here are two: http://usergallery.myhomegameroom.com/gallery/album771 I remember being excited to see the Hercules pin and having that excitement soured as the machine was virtually unplayable (don't remember what was wrong with it at the time). ..Al

simbalion #4 Posted June 12, 2010 I remember Cedar Point's arcade from 1996 when I went with the High School choir my senior year. The arcade is nice sized, but even then it was poorly maintained. I'm not into roller coasters and standing in line for hours, so I got to see the poorer side of the park and was not impressed. It seems like unless it is a roller coaster, they don't maintain it well. Even thier antique carousels were a bit ratty.
Albert #5 Posted June 12, 2010 I'm not thinking of going just for that. I think the rides look pretty sweet, especially Gemini. Gemini isn't really all that great. My favorite coasters are Millennium Force, Maverick, Top Thrill Dragster, Magnum XL-200, Blue Streak and Raptor. I could ride those all day long. I think I've ridden Millenium Force 10 times in quick succession (during the day and at night). Never gets old! Magnum XL-200 is also a blast at night as is Top Thrill Dragster.. They are still missing several types of coasters, though: Drop (diving) coaster, floorless coaster (wish they had taken Dominator from Geauga Lake, that was a kick-ass ride) and a flying coaster. Ahh, must get back there soon! ..Al

You go to the front of the line on any ride you want, all day as much as you want, free drinks (non alcohol). Top thrill over and over, you even get to pick your seat. You can do most of the park in 2-3 hours. Well worth it on a hot day.

I've been going for probably 38 years now without missing a year. The coasters are top notch. I would highly recommend them. As for the arcade, it used to be a retro gamers paradise. I can't tell you how many quarters I pumped into 'Space Wars' in the main arcade. They used to have smaller arcades scattered throughout the park with greats such as Asteroids Deluxe, Red Baron, Tempest, Donkey Kong, Pac Man.... Over the last 10 years or so, they have closed all the smaller arcade area through the park. All that is left is the main arcade on the midway. Granted it is HUGE and contains many retro classics. As others have mentioned however, Cedar Point has done a horrible job maintaining many of these and they are constantly broken. Not only that, but they sold off countless numbers of them maybe 10-12 years ago. The Cinemetronics Space Wars was one that disappeared. Broke my heart. :-( If you go, it's definitely worth a stop in the arcade. Unfortunately, the arcade alone is no longer a reason to go to the park. I've been going to CP for 38 years now and have never heard of such a thing.

Looks like the charge is up to $375 per person now and doesn't even include parking charges. If you've got money to spare, probably a nice convenience. With all the restrictions listed on the website, it just doesn't sound like the perks are worth that much to me though.

I am starting to see this practice all over. Heck the local Halloween park did a 1st in line thing this last season for 4x the price, as many times as you want! In my case I had limited time so I bit the bullet.
