Is this a "Heavy Sixer"?

Recommended Posts

I just picked this up at a garage sale yestereday... it's in awesome shape. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The power supply looks Frankensteined together. It reads "Atari Part No. CO16353 - Input: 120V 60Hz 9W, Output: 9V DC 500mA - SA9500-1 - Made in Taiwan 7 82." Is this the correct power supply?

Also can you get the replacement stickers/labels for the paddles?!?

Thanks,

Roger

Wait a second, I thought all 6 switch models were heavy? Is there another variation separating six switch 2600's into light and heavy? :?

Not all six switch systems are heavy. What you have there is NOT a heavy sixer. It's a light sixer. A heavy sixer had a more beefed-up robust curve at the ends of the wood grain. Also the cartridge bay was deeper and swallowed the cartridge deeper into the slot.

I picked up a couple sixers at a yard sale this weekend and I thought they were "heavys" too. Thanks for the clarification, Atari Joe! Although, I did think they swallowed a little deeper than my four switchers.

The specs on the power supply are right. As long as Dr. Frankenstein didn't change parts inside that wall-wart - just fixed the cord, for example - it'll be fine. It's hard to tell from the pic, but maybe that's exactly what he did; fixed a broken cord then waaaay overdid it with the goop. :)

...and failed to re-install the strain relief (they are molded onto the cord originally, but once you've yanked as much of the bad wire as you can out of one, you can then drill it out with a 1/8 inch or 3mm drill bit and thread the wire through again).

BTW, a thin coat of cyanoacrylate "super glue" or "krazy glue" all the way around the seam, assuming one hasn't totally mangled it when opening it, would be a much better way to re-seal the wall cube.

Don't know why folks have to overdue it with glue like that, just a tiny bit of silicone sealant, the clear stuff would've done it.This subject just got to me as i've had to take apart stuff that someone put enough glue to pave a dragstrip. :x
