+RangerG #1 Posted November 17, 2002 I have phaser patrol for the Supercharger, but I never really use it because I don't have the tape player set up right now and the tape looks like it is in bad shape so I'm afraid to use it and break it. How many of you collect the Supercharger games? Do you actually use them? Do you think they are more liable to break than a cart? Has anyone bought the Stella CD -- how has using that been? Thanks -- RG
MattyXB #2 Posted November 17, 2002 I collect SuperCharger games and try them when I get new ones. Then I know that they are working. But I have them too as ROMs or as Wav file. Then I can play them from CD.
MegaManFan #3 Posted November 17, 2002 Rather than risk the wear and tear, I just use the Stella CD.
NE146 #4 Posted November 17, 2002 Either that or just backup your tape
Nukey Shay #5 Posted November 17, 2002 Definately back them up somehow...and be sure to store them vertically.
SS #6 Posted November 17, 2002 Has anyone bought the Stella CD -- how has using that been? Thanks -- RG Get the CD while Randy still has some to offer. You'll thank yourself for it later.
Rob Mitchell #7 Posted November 17, 2002 Stella CD is great! Definitely worth it! Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA (400 posts and counting!)
StanJr #8 Posted November 18, 2002 I am pretty much obsessed with Supercharger games and yeah, like a moron (I'm sure everyone will agree), I play them on the original tapes. I do plan to get them backed up and after that I WILL probably play the back-ups instead of the originals. But I bought them to be played (like any other cart). NE146 #9 Posted November 18, 2002 Most everyone has a double cassette deck right? right? so buy a couple of $1 TDK normal bias tapes and voila, instant backup
Witchfynde #10 Posted November 18, 2002 The tape on vcr movies eventually break, as do audiotapes. So yeah, back 'em up as soon as possible. My Supercharger currently isn't working, although maybe just a swab of isopropyl (sp?) alcohol might get it going again.
broncoman #11 Posted November 18, 2002 i was lucky ro have the book and cd case number 126 stella version one 1996 . i showed my gal how it worked she thought it was a pretty kool system . the old supercharger still works last time i used it was like 1984 or 85 cleaned the contacs and boom it fired up got to love it
+RangerG #12 Posted November 18, 2002 When you say buy it (Stella CD) from Randy -- I checked Hozer video, but it says $5 for volume one and volume two is out. What is on volume one? Also, 4jays sells one and I assume this is the newer volume II, but it is much more expensive. Thoughts/help -- RG
deadtech #13 Posted November 18, 2002 I just got the Stella CD, and have no way (yet) to play it. I am looking to get a Superchager (anybody with a spare, please feel free to email me) Anyhow, I was also a bit curious as to MakeWav as well. This would allow playing other VCS ROms, right? If they were converted to a sound file and burnt to a CD? That got me thinking as well, I know the SCharger can only handle 2 and 4K games right? What does that limit ones choices (game-rom-cd-burning-wise) to? I havn't ever used any emulators, so i am not real familiar with all this Rom file type stuff. (Sorry to kinda thread-jack, BTW) -deadtech
Cupcakus #14 Posted November 18, 2002 How could he be "out" can't he just burn a new CD? It takes like 2 minutes.

Snider-man #17 Posted November 18, 2002 How could he be "out" can't he just burn a new CD? It takes like 2 minutes. The Stella CD is NOT a Hozer product, but rather leftover stock from the CyberPunks (as well as the Cyberpunks Stella at 20 vids Hozer is sselling). Randy at Hozer is liquidating these (hence the obscenely low price), but is not manufacturing them. Once they're gone, they're gone. better move your butt if you want one. The post above about volume 1 & volume 2 are referring to the vids; Hozer only has version 2 of the Starpath CD. Look, anybody still talking about making backups of their tapes is just being silly while Randy still has the CD -- they're only $5!! How much are blank tapes going to cost? And the CD will last longer, and has other goodies on it. Once you have the CD, then save it to your computer, or make CDR backups of it, but geez *$5*!! Just buy the damn thing! :-)
NE146 #19 Posted November 18, 2002 I've got that cd (came with the Cuttle Cart), but I've never opened it. But you are right in that it definitely is a nice package in that it comes with instructions for all the games. But I agree. Definitely get the cd. (I'd still backup my tapes though.. just a personal choice should I ever want to use a tape deck.. call me weird).
Nostalgic #20 Posted November 18, 2002 I actually have to use my Stella CD rather than tapes. My Supercharger has gotten sensitive in its old age and refuses to work with cassettes. I've tried both a portable tape player and a stereo system - no luck. That said, $5 for as many games as you get is a tremendous bargain. The Supercharger version of Frogger alone is worth it. D.Yancey #21 Posted November 19, 2002 OK-- call me stupid, but then go ahead and tell me.... how do I get the "makewav" file? I have a supercharger and the CD. I want to burn some of my ROMS to CD in WAV format, so I can load them through my Supercharger.

SS #25 Posted November 20, 2002 Speaking of Supercharger games ... I've often wondered if it would be possible to burn the single load games (Phaser Patrol, Frogger, Rabbit Transit, etc) to cart? It seems feasible in theory but, then again, what do I know? So, I ask the experts ... Anyone?
