jeremysart #27 Posted June 29, 2010 Game.com + emulation = a black hole sucking in all the universe's fun. I dont know, I have to admit, I would like to see one. I owned a Game.com back in the day, once it hit like $10, I got the pocket one. But I never owned any games for it, just stuck with Solitare, and used it to store phone numbers. I have always been curious, even if terrible, to play Duke 3D, Sonic Jam, RE 2, and Williams Arcade games. There is a certain charm to bad systems (except the action max). 4Ks #28 Posted June 29, 2010 There's one going on ebay right now for $25. I'm tempted to just buy the thing, but I would probably hate myself later.
DeathAdderSF #29 Posted July 1, 2010 Since a couple of people here have shown interest in picking up a game.com system, I'll gladly sell my entire collection for $100 (includes shipping to anywhere in the USA). That consists of: * One (1) game.com system (working; original model; no stylus) * All 22 released game and program cartridges (cartridges only; all tested and working) * Extra copies of these games: Indy 500, Jeopardy!, Monopoly, Williams Arcade Classics So that's one system + 26 game cartridges for $100 shipped. If you want it, send me a private message. If you don't want it, it's going back in storage.

Not a good scenario, IMO. You are better off putting that money towards that PSP you've been talking about.
DeathAdderSF #31 Posted July 1, 2010 Does that package come with the developer emulator program as well?.. No, it doesn't. If it did, I would have listed it along with the other items. I might be so inclined as to take offers on the official game.com development hardware + software, though it wouldn't sell for anywhere near as low as $100 (it wasn't a cheap acquisition). Video #32 Posted July 1, 2010 That actually sounds like a decent deal, if I wasn't flat broke I'd probably get that Hey, if you actually have the developement stuff, could you tell me something? Is the comlink (or whatever it's called) just wired straight from one pin to another? I just ask, cause I'd like to mess with the linking capabilitys, but have never managed to find a cable, assuming it exists (I assume so, as some games are supposedly multiplayered)
DeathAdderSF #33 Posted July 1, 2010 That actually sounds like a decent deal, if I wasn't flat broke I'd probably get that Yes, it is a fair asking price, just considering how much of a pain in the ass it was to get some of the games (Wheel of Fortune 2, for example). But I'm not going to do anything more with them, and I don't think there's a need to try and hold out for a higher price. Hey, if you actually have the developement stuff, could you tell me something? Hey, I may get back to you about it in a couple of weeks then...I'm just tapped out this paycheck since movie gallery went out of business last week I'll get in touch then. I have the official development kit, but I do not have a comlink cable. Oh well, I just haven't been able to come by one, and as hoping the development kit would have details or something....If I get all your stuff though, I guess I could hunt and peck for it Thanks anyhow. DeathAdderSF #35 Posted July 4, 2010 Hey, I may get back to you about it in a couple of weeks then...I'm just tapped out this paycheck since movie gallery went out of business last week I'll get in touch then. If it's still available at that time, I'll be happy to sell it to you. Just let me know... Oh well, I just haven't been able to come by one, and as hoping the development kit would have details or something.... It could, I don't know. I haven't really dabbled with the devkit from a development angle, because I'm not much of a programmer.
+atari2600land #36 Posted February 23, 2011 I know this is an old thread, but I would definitely like to see a Game.com homebrew. If Clean Larry has the dev kit, maybe he can do something with it, maybe make a version of Zaku or something? And I am interested in some of Clean Larry's games, not all of them because I don't have $100!
Rex Dart #37 Posted February 23, 2011 I just want to try out a few Game.Com games, and I don't want to pay $80+ for a system. I dunno, lick a 9volt or something. It's about the same.
Hatta #38 Posted February 23, 2011 http://gamecom.guruwork.de/ Apparently the guys who own the site reverse engineered the dev emu but so far have not released it in the last 3 / 4 years or so. No one has authority from the current IP holders to release this emulator to the public. The "Game.Commies" team seems to be respecting this, as am I. If it's reverse engineered, you don't need any permission. Only if they're including code from the original emulator or bios files from the console will they need a license. Rex Dart #39 Posted February 23, 2011 Well, did he have the dev emu legally in the first place? That might hold up a release.
Video #40 Posted February 26, 2011 There are quiet a few game.com videos on Youtube, they just aren't up to quality, mostly due to the system itself not being very good quality. There are some good games for the sytem, but for the most part, the "big names" are the ones you should stay away from.

Video #42 Posted March 1, 2011 Yep, it's one of the better solitair's out there (IMO, though I haven't tried new touch screen varieties on whatever's out now) Lights out, which was a packin with the original big dual cart system was cool too. The Wheel of fortunes are great, and while it's not raycasting, Duke Nukem 3D is surprisingly playable. I'm surprised how much is in resident Evil 2, I've never played the console version, but it's a lot like the first console game, though a bit slower. The fighting games are all decent, if a bit slow, but then, comparing them to the fighting games on other 90's handhelds, they did quiet well. Jeopardy and the classic arcade games are pretty good too...well, sinstar sucked, but it seems to suck on about everything (or maybe I just don't "get it" ) Anyhow, look up Game.com on youtube, or the specific name of a game, and you'll likely find one, but as I said, it may be a fairly poor image. I may dig out my game.com and do some videos sometime, though I'm not particularly good at any of the games.
Austin #43 Posted March 1, 2011 I think Video is on crack. Then again, I doubt I'm the first one that's thought that.
kgenthe #44 Posted March 2, 2011 Yep, it's one of the better solitair's out there This is my most played Game.com! It is actually very playable. The Game.Com is fine for games that don't have a lot scrolling, as the screen can't catch up to any real amount of action. Single screen Atari 2600 styled games (with visual upgrades obviously) would have suited the system much better.

There is a certain charm to bad systems (except the action max). ah, see now you've gone and hurt my feelings. While i'll agree that the action max is a bad system it totally has a certain charm to it. I grew up with an action max so it may be a nostalgia deal for me but i'll describe it as charm none the less. I owned a Game.com back in the day and had purchased Duke Nukem 3D, Williams Arcade, and Fighters Megamix to go along with it. Needless to say Solitare got a lot more action than the mentioned games, and eventually the system was sold off. I may be going out on a limb here but I'm going to say that there is not a single game in the entire Game.com library that makes this system a must have. I apologize to any feelings I hurt by saying that in advance.
