There is no difference between a "ROM" file and an "EPROM" file-the contents are the same. Some emulator's have a "CAR" file format that attaches a header to the raw dumped contents of the ROM so that the emulator will know what cartridge banking scheme was used (otherwise the emulator has to guess or ask the user.)

It is about Qmeg. I haven't downloaded the file, but I'm almost 100% positive this has nothing to do with a CART. It is an OS ROM version i guess. So yes: that rom file in the zip has to be burned in an eprom, which can be installed INSIDE your atari 8bit computer. Like any other os... (MyIDE OS, SuperMon, APE Warp+ OS etc.)

 

So in stead of ATARIXL.ROM you use that Qmeg ROM. But In an emulator it is not really useful.

 

I don't see the benefit of QMEG in a cartridge, so I can not imagine it is made for a CART.

 

Or am i totally wrong here?

Perhaps you don't know the word 'guess', I didn't say it wasn't a rom image, i said i am guessing, so I wasn't wrong, as you put it

I was just trying to correct what I thought was Carmel's idea that an EPROM and a ROM would have a different format for burning. If he meant "ROM" in the way that some people use the term to mean "any file that can be used in an emulator" (I hate that!) then I completely missed the meaning of his sentence. That could definitely be the case.

What goes on between Carmel and I out in the open, frankly, is none of your business. You didn't have to respond at all. No one else did, except you. So, please correct me anytime you feel the need to, because I obviously did need it in this thread. I mean, I contributed absolutely nothing to this thread except setting off your flamewar sensor, and because of this needed to be corrected by you, Marius. Without you, I would have been WAY off topic on this thread. I'm so glad that you're here to correct me.

 

For one, responding the way you did by quoting me, and then changing the contents to what you saw fit is, in reality, a method of trolling, which the fellow trolls of the site are most likely congratulating you on.

 

While you're at it, go correct the other threads on the forum too.
