carmel_andrews #2 Posted June 26, 2010 I guess the .zip file on their site is an EPROM image (for burning onto a prom etc) and not a ROM file (so you can use it on emu's) Anychance you can grab the file and upload it here (as you have to register to get it)

Shawn Jefferson #5 Posted June 28, 2010 I guess the .zip file on their site is an EPROM image (for burning onto a prom etc) and not a ROM file (so you can use it on emu's) There is no difference between a "ROM" file and an "EPROM" file-the contents are the same. Some emulator's have a "CAR" file format that attaches a header to the raw dumped contents of the ROM so that the emulator will know what cartridge banking scheme was used (otherwise the emulator has to guess or ask the user.) Ehm... It is about Qmeg. I haven't downloaded the file, but I'm almost 100% positive this has nothing to do with a CART. It is an OS ROM version i guess. So yes: that rom file in the zip has to be burned in an eprom, which can be installed INSIDE your atari 8bit computer. Like any other os... (MyIDE OS, SuperMon, APE Warp+ OS etc.) So in stead of ATARIXL.ROM you use that Qmeg ROM. But In an emulator it is not really useful. I don't see the benefit of QMEG in a cartridge, so I can not imagine it is made for a CART. Or am i totally wrong here? Marius

Perhaps you don't know the word 'guess', I didn't say it wasn't a rom image, i said i am guessing, so I wasn't wrong, as you put it Edited June 28, 2010 by carmel_andrews

Some emulator's have a "CAR" file format that attaches a header to the raw dumped contents of the ROM so that the emulator will know what cartridge banking scheme was used (otherwise the emulator has to guess or ask the user.) Ehm... I was just trying to correct what I thought was Carmel's idea that an EPROM and a ROM would have a different format for burning. If he meant "ROM" in the way that some people use the term to mean "any file that can be used in an emulator" (I hate that!) then I completely missed the meaning of his sentence. That could definitely be the case.
dwhyte #12 Posted June 29, 2010 If he meant "ROM" in the way that some people use the term to mean "any file that can be used in an emulator" (I hate that!) What about when someone buys a new computer and says it has 500 gigabytes of memory?

Very offtopic, as I correct you now on that. Greetz Marius What goes on between Carmel and I out in the open, frankly, is none of your business. You didn't have to respond at all. No one else did, except you. So, please correct me anytime you feel the need to, because I obviously did need it in this thread. I mean, I contributed absolutely nothing to this thread except setting off your flamewar sensor, and because of this needed to be corrected by you, Marius. Without you, I would have been WAY off topic on this thread. I'm so glad that you're here to correct me. For one, responding the way you did by quoting me, and then changing the contents to what you saw fit is, in reality, a method of trolling, which the fellow trolls of the site are most likely congratulating you on. While you're at it, go correct the other threads on the forum too. EDIT: I know I shouldn't feed the trolls, but I despise being goaded. I'd also like to apologize to the community and the admins for my previous outburst that was, thankfully, deleted. Also, I'd like to mention that I have a nice big middle-finger pointed in the direction of Marius1976. Have a nice day... Marius #18 Posted June 30, 2010 What goes on between Carmel and I out in the open, frankly, is none of your business. Here we are having a different opinion. Since you are replying in public, it is everyones business. When you want to go personal, use personal messages, that's why that option is available. You didn't have to respond at all. No one else did, except you. And that is a reason for you to think you are right? Indeed I responded because comments like yours as "Wrong again Carmel" and the tone you are correcting him, were irritating me. Honest. I was reading this topic just because I'm interested in Qmeg, not to read you having 'nice' personal debates with Carmel or anyone else. For one, responding the way you did by quoting me, and then changing the contents to what you saw fit is, in reality, a method of trolling, which the fellow trolls of the site are most likely congratulating you on. Ok sorry. I did cross a line here. I did not know that. It did simply not want to repeat all that 'personal crap' and I changed it into "Offtopic talk" in stead of a few other words I had in mind first. Also, I'd like to mention that I have a nice big middle-finger pointed in the direction of Marius1976. Have a nice day... Ugly finger, you'd better stop waving it like a feather duster. Greetz M.
